Lady Gaga threatens to sue over 'Baby Gaga' human breast milk ice cream

Lady Gaga has threatened to sue the makers of an ice cream made from human breast milk if they don't stop selling the product under the name "Baby Gaga."

News of the flavor's sale in a London sweets shop by a waitress dressed like Lady Gaga raised eyebrows worldwide and led to its confiscation after the Westminister City Council deemed it unfit for human consumption.

That hasn't stopped the meat-wearing entertainer from accusing Covent Garden's Icecreamists of riding her "coattails" to promote a "deliberately provocative" product that many consider "nausea-inducing," according to legal documents filed on her behalf.

In using her name and her image, Gaga - whose real name is Stefani Germanotta - accuses the shop of misleading the public into believing she endorses the concoction of breast milk, vanilla pods and lemon zest.

"The references you are making to Lady Gaga are thus clearly deliberate and intended to take advantage of her reputation and good will," the document states.

Furthermore, "associating the Lady Gaga mark with a food product which may be unsafe for human consumption (owing to the risk of it carrying such viruses as hepatitis) is also highly detrimental" to her brand, according to the document.

Gaga demands that Icecreamists change the name of the ice cream to something that is not "aurally, visually or conceptually similar" to Lady Gaga and to remove all references to Baby Gaga from their website and marketing materials or face an injunction and further legal proceedings.

The owner of Icecreamists, Matt O'Connor, said he intends to fight the allegations, which he calls "preposterous and outrageous."

He also said he plans to continue selling the breast milk ice cream under the name Baby Gaga if he gets the ice cream back from the council.

"We think this is very unnecessary, the whole thing will be over by next week, but we are prepared to fight this in court," he said.

Maybe the surviving members of Queen and Freddy Mercury's estate should sue this nasty creature for using their Song Radio GaGa to name herself Lady Gaga, and maybe Madonna should sue her for straling "Express yourself."

    She is so worthless.

straling? LOL I meant to type stealing. My typing is a failure. Of course I am just complaining about Lady Ca ca on CNN.COM, so it isn't like proper spelling or grammar means anything, especially since most of CNN's articles are full of errors.

Did the kennedy's sue the Dead Kennedy's because they stole their name? Of course not because that would be fracking ridiculous. If I decide to call my band 'Karenina' is Leo Tolstoy's estate going to get on my a$$? No, because naming a band in homage of a book, piece of artwork, or yes, song, is not 'stealing'. If it was half of all bands in existance would be sued every day. Get a life.

so to those people that think drinking breast milk is gross or disgusting I reply by saying that breast milk is incredibly healthy. It contains all sorts of vitamins and minerals, proteins and essential immune cells. Its natural/organic and about a million times healthier than any soda or "juice" on the grocery store shelves. Its the best possible thing to feed a neonate. So, since breast milk is a natural part of life and an amazing health drink, I must say that yeah, this is a story about Lady GaGa's egotism and nothing more.

At first it seems like fair play. Then you read the ice cream is "unfit for human consumption" and then you read there was someone dressed as Lady Gaga handing it out. All of a sudden the "outrageous and preposterous" part is that this owner of the ice cream thinks he can get away with this. Seriously...human breast milk ice cream? C'mon dude.

So she thinks the ice cream wrongfully appropriates her name because – and I quote – it is "nausea-inducing."

Under that logic, she have a point. I often associate "nausea-inducing" with Lady Gaga.

Did none of you read the article? Lady Gaga is threatening to sue because they are using her persona, not just the word "gaga". First sentence of the second paragraph, "News of the flavor's sale in a London sweets shop BY A WAITRESS DRESSED LIKE LADY GAGA raised eyebrows worldwide...". Get your facts straight before you go off saying she is trying to make the word "Gaga" her own. It's the image/persona/character's use she is upset about.

"News of the flavor's sale in a London sweets shop BY A WAITRESS DRESSED LIKE LADY GAGA raised eyebrows worldwide...".

She is a famous pop star, most pop stars are trendsetters. So it is pretty stupid to try and sue because someone is wearing the same clothes as her.
So what is next? Will she go through flickr and facebook and sue anyone who has dressed like her for Halloween?

How is the ice cream a "product that many consider 'nausea-inducing?'"

I love the taste of breast milk. it's anything but nausea inducing. My four kids all loved it, couldn't get enough.
Well, actually the first two always got enough. Then the twins didn't always and then we had to suppliment.
But come on ... with vanilla, that's a plus; with lemon.....score again.

where can I try me some?

To address the claims that the milk is not safe for human consumption, did anyone read the very first article about the ice cream to begin with? It said that the milk goes through numerous screenings for diseases etc, the very same kind that donated blood goes through. Now to all the people that are complaining that it's not safe, are you going to say the same thing to a blood transfusion when you're lying on the side of the road dying?

Its a personal choice to sell your own milk, and its a personal choice to consume it.

And Lady Gaga...get over your self.
