Newly released photos of Hitler's wife

Life.com has obtained a set of newly released photos from the personal albums of Eva Braun, Adolf Hitler's longtime girlfriend and, in their final hours, wife.

The photos "reveal new dimensions" of the woman who married Hitler as the Russian army closed in on his Berlin bunker and then committed suicide with him a day later. He was 56. She was 33.

The 30 photos cover almost all of Braun's life, from images of her as a toddler and schoolgirl to her spending time with Hitler at his mountaintop retreat in the Alps.

Among the most interesting images are those of Braun posing seemingly naked behind an umbrella and her made up as American actor Al Jolson in his role in "The Jazz Singer."

The photos come from "a cache of images confiscated by the U.S. Army in 1945 and brought to light by collector and curator Reinhard Schulz," Life.com reports.

Of course Hitler was considered evil. He was a vegetarian, and hated hunting. Those types of people are still considered evil by civilized society even today.

Hey! I remember her from Wolfenstein! When you blew Hitler away, his last words were "Eva, auf wiedersehen...."

    (anyone else remember that one?)

Those pictures were interesting to see. History is always important. It explains to us why we are at the place we are today. We should all read history, and particularly, listen to it, as you know those who fail to heed the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it. I love historical facts. Anyone with a curiousity about how the world evolved, the way people have shaped the world through the years, serves to enlighten all of us and helps to further explain our purpose on earth.

We need to be reminded of Germany and the Nazis on a regular basis. I held a photograph album in my lap as a teenager. It was handed to me by my school chum's father who had brought it back from one of the German concentration camps which he helped to liberate. The cover was made of human skin.
