Newly released photos of Hitler's wife

Life.com has obtained a set of newly released photos from the personal albums of Eva Braun, Adolf Hitler's longtime girlfriend and, in their final hours, wife.

The photos "reveal new dimensions" of the woman who married Hitler as the Russian army closed in on his Berlin bunker and then committed suicide with him a day later. He was 56. She was 33.

The 30 photos cover almost all of Braun's life, from images of her as a toddler and schoolgirl to her spending time with Hitler at his mountaintop retreat in the Alps.

Among the most interesting images are those of Braun posing seemingly naked behind an umbrella and her made up as American actor Al Jolson in his role in "The Jazz Singer."

The photos come from "a cache of images confiscated by the U.S. Army in 1945 and brought to light by collector and curator Reinhard Schulz," Life.com reports.

    Let's be clear here, the photos were stolen. The US has made it a habit of confiscating things under the name of liberation/war/etc to build up its empire.

      And your comment is pertinent to this post in what way?? Hum...guessing you are either Swiss or French. Pot meet kettle. I'm sure you are well aware of the Nazi money laundering conducted by Swiss banking interests during WWll. There were some reparations after the war, amounting to, at most, 10% of all the nazi money held in Swiss coffers. So much for Swiss neutrality. Unless you grew up living under a rock, I don't believe that any discussion of the Vichy Government's role in the horror of WWll is necessary. You have a lot of gall to accuse the US of lying and thieving during the war!!

      Just another low life with no education or anything else for that matter. Most of Europe would be speaking German had we not stole our way into that war. Got any other note wothy remarks? Certainly not anything a normal person would believe. Perhaps, women suicide bombers, they have all of the answers. Do they get 21 virgins when they blow themselves up?       During World War II, no nation's hands were clean especially with respect to monetary assets of Jewish citizens of occupied (and unoccupied Europe). After the war, retribution was also made against German citizens in Silesia and West Prussia, the Sudetenland and Transylvania through the ethnic cleansing of Germans from these areas. In the 1960's, came the beginning of the Holocaust industry/Holocaust denial and dark tourism. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

    Hitler killed her with one shot in the head. He died with one shot to the head also. History channel recently uncovered what was believe to his grave, DNA testing proved the skull was a woman's skull. So the mystery remains. It's apart a the Rat LIne given name of those who helped the Germans leave Germany to Argentina.       Actually Hitler's skull is supposed to be in Russia under guard. Can you imagine how much they pay to keep a dead guys skull guarded. Throw the damn thing in the ocean. Would be much cheaper.

      bill, why is that stupid or crude? Is it the use of the word "Jew" rather than the full "Jewish"? I wouldn't call that crude. Not completely PC, but hardly crude.

      You do know that DNA testing showed Hilter had Jewish lineage? And it's entirely possible that he knew about it. It's also plausible that he considered himself a god. He certainly seemed to think he had the right to decide who lives or dies. E5Mouse's comment isn't exactly insightful and revelatory, but it's not exactly dumb or crude.

    Look around you wherever you are in this country. Now picture EVERY building and vehicle as smoldering rubble and no food or water for you. Most of your family and friends lay dead. That is Europe in 1945 and one man ignited that fire that apparently by the standards of some did not kill the 55 to 65 million people who died from 1939 to 1945 in that war. Please educate yourselves so that your generation does not make the same mistakes.
