U.S. set to send disaster relief teams to Libya

The United States will soon be sending disaster relief teams into eastern Libya, the WH National Security Adviser Thomas Donilon said.

The teams' activities should not be viewed as military operations, Donilon said.

"It can no way shape or form be seen as military intervention," Donilon said. The teams will assess that humanitarian aid is being delivered. "This is purely humanitarian to better assist in a humanitarian way the people of Libya."

This does not look good. It sounds like a human shield operation to me. Who are they sending?

And what team will we send when the "disaster relief team" is attacked and killed? I suspect we will issue a statement of outrage and condemnation and say yet again how we are going to hold Gadaffy accountable. This has debacle in the desert written all over it.

Just like Afghanistan...or is that because the CIA needs the poppies?

How exactly do you oversee humanitarian aid in a war zone? Either help the rebels win, then clean up or let the COL win then offer to help clean up, but don't send the military or civilians into a warzone with nothing in their hands but food and medicine.

Sorry folks, but I didn't post the above. Someone is trying to discredit me. There is a grain of truth as to what Sillie boy is saying. In other words to Uncle Sam: take care of your own first.

I am so sick and tired of the right-wing thugs in Washington putting foreign countries' interests ahead of our own. It's been going on since since the Cold War days and needs to stop. Like I said before,we have no business in Libya!

@stomsun: First, you have a dumb handle name. Second, you are missing the point. Point: Take care of your own first. The U.S. does not follow this ideology. They are like Oprah and Madana, too ignorant to realize the need is here, not across the world.

Ameica would most likely do a "no fly zone" but Russia and China aren't really on board with that... Probably because they don't want us to get the oil, despite the fact that we never take oil from countries we invade or police
