9:30 am ET - NYSE opening bell - What will happen on Wall Street following the more than 10 percent drop on the Tokyo exchange overnight?  Supermodel Tyra Banks rings the opening bell.

9:30 am ET - Afghanistan hearing - The commander of U.S. Forces Afghanistan, Gen. David Petraeus, testifies before the Senate Armed Services Committee on the situation in the war-torn country.

10:00 am ET - 2012 energy budget hearing - The situation in Japan may be discussed when Energy Secretary Steven Chu addresses his department's budget needs before a Congressional committee.

1:30 pm ET - White House briefing - The crisis in Japan and the Libyan civil war will be on Jay Carney's agenda when he meets with the White House press corps.

9:00 pm ET - Space station crew members say farewell - Three crew members who've called the international space station home for more than five months leave the station for good and prepare to return home.
