Gotta Watch: Why we're Tweeting 5 years later...

Today marks the five-year anniversary of Twitter. Despite all the skeptics who said the concept was just a fad, it looks like Tweeting is here to stay. Here are some of our favorite videos highlighting how communication through 140 characters or less has changed our world.

The Twitter revolution – Twitter's impact as a tool for political and social change was profound during the uprising in Egypt. And the United States was paying close attention. CNN's Jill Dougherty looks at the impact of social media on U.S. foreign policy and how the White House is trying to fight what it calls "internet repression."

'Tiger blood' and Twitter – Whether you like it or not, celebrities are also harnessing the power of Twitter and if anyone knows the power of Twitter, it's Charlie Sheen. He set the Guinness World Record for gaining the most Twitter followers in a single day. A million followers? That's so early March. He's now surpassed 3 million.

Tweeting for charity – While celebrities are pumping up their fame with the social media tool, many other outlets are using it for charitable reasons. Our Fredricka Whitfield reports on a grassroots organization called Beremedy that is using Twitter as a tool to help those in need. The concept is simple. They Tweet a need. If you can help, you Tweet back.

Let's be real here. What is tweeting? Very simply it's an individual crying out, saying: Look at me, please look at me, please acknowledge me, I have no self respect and no feeling of self worth whatsoever, I can get by one more day if someone will just recognize me, I'm desperately in need of attention, please please see me and acknowledge me, I'm going to cry if someone doesn't confirm that I exist, I'm begging you, please, please, please, please, please..........

Americans are hooked on meaningless gossip and drivel. While smarter people do productive things, the masses are caught up in frivolity. Although some of the smart ones tweet stuff that causes the masses to spend money.

Re plastic surgey? Canyou believe that a depressed city such as Buffalo can afford to give their employess a cosmetic rider? This rider allows for procedures to improve appearence. Buffalo Teachers, Police Officers, and Fireman all have the opportunity to take "advantage" of this policy. The taxpayers help pay their salaries-including their health care. Taxpayers are being taken. But, darn the retirees look good.
