Soldier accused of killing Afghan civilians pleads guilty

Attorneys for Army Spc. Jeremy Morlock entered guilty pleas on his behalf at the beginning of a court martial proceeding Wednesday to charges that he murdered Afghan civilians while serving in Afghanistan in 2010.

German news outlet Der Spiegel recently published photographs of what appear to be two U.S. soldiers - including Morlock - posing over the bodies of Afghans.

Lt. Col. Kwasi Hawks, the military judge in the case, said he will question Morlock and hear from witnesses before he approves a plea deal.

So he's accounting for his atrocious actions. Good. That's how it's supposed to be...he killed *civilians*, and for that he should be punished.

he's exempt from justice! What happens to allege "terrorists"?torture without proven their accused crimes!!! Our "brave men in uniforms" killed innocent people and nothing will happen because they're serving rulers of this world. What is there to say, article98 is there for USA!, the righteous saviors and democracy planters!!! SMH

  8. "article98" -

these kind of acts are unamerican far as i know. Le droit aux justice c'est pour les innocents. I blame this on our leadership in washington. They're the ones poisoning the men in uniform to act without heart or conscience. Research why horrific video games was invented by the USG after ww1, ww2, and the vietnem war. Satistics show 25% death before the inventions of these devices and other drugs given to soldiers. WW2=50% VW=75% DEATH AS A RESULT OF THE USG army project that make these kids monsters at war, and suicidals at home when they can't find some1 to kill. Sociologist/psychologist. Shame on President Obama for killing the hope he preached. THOMAS

I don't agree with preventable civilian killings (if they're really civilians) but what happens in countries like Syria where govt forces just killed a young girl and several other civilians, or in Libya where snipers are shooting civilians at will from the rooftops? If we're going to fight these people, we might need to follow similar rules of engagement

Defending murderous actions by pointing out that's the enemy's M.O. Is not a good excuse. The good guy differentiates himself from the bad guy by not doing what the bad guy does. Purposefully dropping a bomb that accidentally falls on an innocent person does not grant someone an oopsy. This was murder and should be treated as such, even though the Wu-Tang clan might disagree.
