Accused cop killer surrenders after hostage standoff

A suspect accused of killing a Georgia police officer and wounding another one surrendered to authorities Friday night after a hostage standoff.

The incident was captured by television cameras as officers arrested suspect Jamie Donnell Hood in Athens, Georgia.

Earlier Friday, Hood released four of eight hostages. It is not yet known how long the hostages had been held or if they had been harmed.

Hood is wanted in connection with Tuesday's slaying of Senior Police Officer Elmer "Buddy" Christian, 34, and the wounding of Senior Police Officer Tony Howard, 43.

Yes, a white PO died, a black officer was shot twice, there is no racial thing here! So let's not make one. Be thankful there was no more blood shed!

@john/trl- Yes, he should have been killed...but had the police shot & killed him, they would have been sued by the killer's family. To make matters worse, because we are a "sue happy" country/society, his family would have won. Talk about stabbing the deceased cop's family in the back not once, but TWICE!! We, as taxpayers, would have to pay for the killer's wrong-doing no matter what happened in the end; he lives & rots in jail, WE PAY...he is shot by the cops, his family sues, WE PAY. Talk about injustice!!

I laugh at those who are quick to point fingers at others; calling one another racist, libertards, wing nuts, uneducated, etc. So it's OK for you to call someone else a racist, but you can make fun of someone else's political views & all of this is just fine in your opinion- and the same vice versa. How can you tell someone that their view on a subject is incorrect & call them a racist but then be justified when you call someone crazy or re*tar*ded for having a political view that's different than yours. That's still racism...and it's still wrong!!

Everyone needs to look at the real defendant in this case. He was cast down from heaven for thinking that he is better than God and sadly, he has manipulated people for centuries and people still fall for his lies and evil urges. As a nation we need to return to God. I am angry with SATAN as he was the real instigator! There was more than one loss on this very day, not just the officer, but each individual involved. I am grieved to know that America has let SATAN win one more time instead of turning to God for strength and comfort. How many will have to die before the whole world catches onto SATAN'S pathetic schemes and chose the correct choice to listen to God and his Holy Spirit. The Bible has the longest standing record of writings that have withstood the test of time. Oh, Israel (this is not the country of Israel, but rather humankind as a whole) when will you return your hearts back to God where you belong? How many more must die?

You said it Karen M Roth! Talk about a treacherous spirit, that Saten, gets us to feeling mean or desperate or hopeless or whatever else he can find to throw at us including confused so we'll harm oneanother,Gods creations. Let's shelter our souls with God's justice and mercy, and pray for those who are wandering not recognizing God their Creator.

Its true what christopher said that alot of innocent black people get blamed for the action of a few even in communities that have no connection to the incident. Its very unfair something white dont face everytime a serious crime is commited. I cant tell you how many times ive held my breath and thought oh just great they will hassel everybody because somebody black did a crime that didnt even happen in my state or community it just on the news! I knew the harrassment would began. Hey its true what he said he more sensative or aware what its like then most. Yes i sometimes live in fear as a black person just from crimes committed elsewhere but by another black individual!
