Not to be callous or anything but I've always thought it ironic to have fire on a boat.
I hope they are okay. Those Navy meds are good at what they do, so I'm not too worried.
I was avionics technician in the Navy from '73 through '79 and my squadron deployed on the USS Oriskany CV-34. Flight deck fires, crashes, mishaps inherent with flight operations in such a tight space happen almost everyday. It's dangerous, risky and the flight deck has been called one of the most dangerous places on the planet. I do wish them well and can understand their dangerous daily duties. We had fires just from slight amounts of jet fuel and hydraulic fluid leaking into the catapults steam driven tracks, lost three aircraft during routine operations but fortunately recovered the pilots, two men on the flight deck that I know of were killed. It's a tough job.
