NATO investigates report of coalition airstrike on Libyan rebels

[9:42 a.m. ET]  Coalition airstrikes have hit several rebel vehicles, a spokesman for the Libyan opposition said Saturday. Jamal al-Gallal said the opposition was looking into reports that some rebel fighters were killed.

[9:13 a.m. ET] NATO is investigating a report that a coalition airstrike in the eastern oil town of al-Brega hit Libyan opposition rebels, a NATO spokeswoman said Saturday.

"NATO takes any reports of civilian casualties very seriously, but exact details are hard to verify as we have no reliable sources on the ground," NATO's Oana Lungescu said. "Clearly, if someone fires at one of our aircraft, of course they have the right to defend themselves."

      Sorry CNN EDITOR,somebody keeps trying to make a fool out me by posting under my name. In the first place,I don't own any Camero but I do have a Ford. In the second place,I wish to reiterate my position that neither the U.S. nor NATO has any right to interfere in Libya's civil war. And finally,I hate that filthy Tea Party lingo and I wish that all these right-wing nutjobs would quit using it here.

    @ruffnutt I have a friend that has a Mopar Duster, with a 360 engine, kit black racing pistons with a compression of 11 to 1, also mechanic cam so in other words its like a 380.

      mine's got ross pistons, a roller comp cam, comp cam roller rockers, eldelbrock performer intake and a 750 double pumper..

      i had the heads ported and big valves put in.. it will pass anything but a gas station..

    This is really unbelievable. These rebels are celebrating whatever they were celebrating by firing their heavy machine guns in the air, obiously inomb the area the pilots were enforcing the NFZ. They get bombed and can't figure out why !!! Excuse me, but these planes are like at 30,000 ft. and are supposed to know who's shooting at them ? It really doesn't show a lot of intelligence on the part of the rebels. Besides, if they are having such problems with resupply of their ammo and what not, WHY are they wasting the ammo they have by shooting at nothing ? Just a thought.

      it's kinda like this... when i'm driving my car down blueridge blvd, and i see a cat in the road do i swerve and endager other motorist or plow him and help save the pet population..?

      if someone wants to shoot ak's in the air they are not following gun safety rules and must be delt with...
