Clinton: Gadhafi must go before NATO airstrikes stop

Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi must leave power and Libya to stop the NATO military strikes in the country, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said.

"I don't think there is any mystery about what is expected from Mr. Gadhafi at this time," Clinton told reporters on Wednesday.

Earlier, Gadhafi urged U.S. President Barack Obama to end the NATO bombing of his war-torn country. Gadhafi made the appeal in a letter, a senior administration official said.

Don't we have ENOUGH problems in our own country without trying to control what other countries do?

Oil.We need the oil. Libya will be slit in two. Gadhafi's son will control half and the rebels the other half. The beauty of this solution is that this will mean there are two suppliers of oil from a nation where there was one. Helps keep the price of oil low.

Because freedom and stablity in the Middle East is in our self interest, and in the interests of advanced, westren nations. We might care about Somalia, but their problems don't cause large problems for us.

Oil has nothing to do with it for the US.. Lybia supplies a majority of its oil to Europe. Something like 80% of oil is bound for France, Italy, and the large EU nations. The rest is split up in the refining process but hardly any actually gets to the US. So to say that its over is a falicy!

I admire the Secretary's thoughts, but, WHO IN WHAT COUNTRY WILL TAKE A NOTED TERRORIST/DICTATOR?????? Leaving is not an option for him. He should be hanged in the middle of town in front of all of the innocent victims he has terrorized for the past 40 years. Or better still, have him bound and gagged, taken to the middle of town and have his victims stone him to death!!!!! A far better death from what he afforded his victims!

Many countries will take him in Africa. He has a lot of money and will still have a lot of influence where ever he is. Especially as his son will control half of Libya and he still knows all the deals that have been done to keep the oil flowing during all decades of supposed sanctions.

Hillary will run if it looks like she can win. If Obama's numbers pick up, she won't but will wait for 2016. There are enough of us who are disillusioned by Obama's actions who would be her supporters this time around. I really like Barack Obama and having his family in the White House, but he's turned out to be a speechifier and rock star.

Two wrongs don't make a right. I'll never understand those who say that because we didn't stop one genocide, we shouldn't stop another. This is the exact argument that stopped us from getting involved in World War II and hastening the end of the Holocaust.

Its not the fact that since nothing was done for one genocide then this one should also be ignored, its the fact that the US will only help out with a genocide or intercede in another country if their is something in it for them. The primary reason why they are going into Lybia is for the oil, if it weren't for that the US would not be there. Example? Sudan Somalia and any other African nation without oil

No one has suggested that Gadaffi would be responsible for a "genocide". No one has used that term. A masacure, yes. A humanitarian crisis, yes. A great tragidy, but not a genocide.

It must be twice as stressful when she has to carry out someone else's instructions when she knows a lot about what should be done herself – therefore the jelly donuts. If she were running again for president, those pounds would melt off quickly. She's stuck in a box right now. I'd like to see her break out.

The only reason man created a GOD was to explain to himself all the suffering, strife and loneliness that he/she has to bare in the brief, meaningless existence upon this planet.
Use the mind and reason that nature gave you; it is far more fulfilling and real.

Let's see-Clinton left office in 2001-Afghanistan and Iraq were dictatorships-and the US was under constant fire from Iraq, and both country's people lived in fear of their own leaders. Bush came in office, and by 2004, both were Democracies, and Saddam Hussein was in custody. Bush freed more people than Abraham Lincoln (Lincoln only freed 3.9 million slaves-there's 30 million in Iraq alone). And Saddam's threats were over. I can't help it Obama hasn't been able to finish the job in his two years. I guess he can't.

Needless to say, the US has plenty of money for bombs but never enough for its own population. It is wonderful being the world's policeman!
