Gotta Watch: Road hazards

Things often go haywire on the highway but aren't caught on tape. Today however, we bring you three gripping videos that show what happens when things don't go as planned on the road.

Plywood missile – Our team at American Morning showed this harrowing clip where a woman filming two trucks on the road gets a 2×4 through her window.

Flaming car rescue – This is one brave police officer. Here, he tells us about his decision to pull a man from a burning car.

New Bonnie and Clyde? – This video is as "Wild West" as it gets in 2011...except this was in North Carolina...in a Jeep. Here, a couple wanted for armed robbery completely bypasses a police roadblock.

So she could have evidence that these "drivers" were playing "CHIKEN" on the Highway.

So she can provide proof that she's just as much a dummy for following too close WHILE filming WHILE driving...What a snitch!

What's more annoying; people referring to drivers who operate flatbeds and pick-up trucks as "truck drivers", or illiterate people who shout their annoyances in ALL CAPS and with the literacy of a five-year-old? ANSWER: the latter.

It sure looks to me that the piece of wood was laying on the side of the road and the vehicle in front ran over it and it flew up in to the windshield.

Also, the vehicle that was filming was following way too close, if they had been the proper distance back this wouldn't have happened. It could have been prevented if the vehicle that hit the wood had been paying attention and avoided it.

In any case, neither of the vehicles in front (trailer-puller or flat bed) represent the vast majority of over the road/long haul drivers in this country. They do their job and do it well.

Exactly, had this lady not been following too closely and paying attention to the road instead of filming, she could have avoided the whole 2×4 off the side of the road through the windshield experience. Oh well, instead lets say she is a saint and blame the guy with the uhaul trailer.

It's a lot tougher to swerve out of the way of debris when you have hauling a trailer. The trailer isn't going to respond the same way as a car or truck with 4 wheels.

The driver / filmer is FOLLOWING TO CLOSE to the vehicle in front. She is "1 second" behind the little trailer – when the minimum distance should be 3 seconds. If she had been 3 seconds, the board would have fallen back to the ground and she would have driven over it. The state police should cite her for following to close and the media should turn this into a teaching moment.

    Tailgating can kill too easily.

Any zoom on that camera??? I'm sure there is.

She may be driving that close to get the License #'s, but again She was way too close and a FOOL for doing such.

Count: Zero...... One...... Two; as you pass something that the driver before you passed, an object such as a sign. No matter what the speed is you will not be so close as to let a 2×4 to go through your windshield and decapitate/ impale the driver/passenger.

This is a "National Learning Moment" for all RURAL drivers to BACK OFF! and Don't Tailgate!!!!

A bumper sticker I had seen years ago: THE CLOSER YOU get.... The SLOWER I go!

      Why lie?

      Rural drivers LMAO!!!!

I live in an ultra blue area and witness America's #1 killer each morning and evening, DWD, driving while Democrat. They are so Democratic that not only do they tailgate, they actually try to drive over your car. As I say to all great Americans, when you visit the hateful blue parts on America, watch out for 'dem. If you pay attention you can tell the Democrats for who they are very quick. Stay alert and try to get away from 'dem, or you will be the next victim of DWD.

      Doug,

      Blue/Red/Green/Yellow driver????

This country is made up of 3 different types of AREAS: URBAN, SubURBAN and RURAL.
My comment is 'when driving in an / a _________ area.' and then you talk of ORANGE drivers ruining the roads.

Look at a pop density map and then think of why someone "tailgates" in Oklahoma, Texas, Wyoming, Wisconsin or Tennessee? Political????

      You are wayyyy off base.

Oh, back off when driving. And don't forget to Smile 😉

The lady was following too close. Should maintain 4 second space between you and the vehicle in front. At sixty miles per hour, four seconds is approximately 360'

Wow, one idiot riding two close to 2 more idiot's! Stay 2 car length's of distance away from the car in front of you. You see a car on the wrong side playing games with another car, stay 10 car's behind and car the police. OMG

      Steve,

To keep you safe....you are correct that the number is 2
      But NOT car lengths.
      It's SECONDS, 2 seconds.
Car in front goes by a sign, then count ....0.....1.....2 until you pass the object.
This way your speed makes NO difference.... (unless the car in front is stopped)

If you were goin' 55 and following at 2 car lengths you would only be 40' back... no time to react at all 😦

I am an underwater cave dive,.... Considered by some to be the most dangerous sport in the world. I can promise you, that the 10 hr drive to get to the caves is far more dangerous than any of those water filled caves I explore.

The 2 drivers are not playing chicken. Chicken involves an ONCOMING car. They are driving on a 2 lane highway. The yellow line is on the left of BOTH vehicles. Ahhhhh durrrr. Kinda hard to play chicken with traffic that doesn't exist. That lady should loose her license for filming while she's driving, then making up the stupid lie on top of it.

Ha ha, drive in the bluest parts of this nation, when a majority of those on the road have a total disregard for the lives of their fellow Americans it becomes very dangerous.

DWD, driving while Democrat, by far America's #1 killer!

I live in one of the bluest parts of america, and know exactly what you are talking about. I was raised in a red part of america, and see the same stuff going on while driving 4 hours back home, through mostly red areas. Go sip some tea and read the drudge report you ignorant fool.
