Here's how this works. If this is a white man- as it is 9 times out of 10- then he will just be called "crazy" and a "lone gunmen" no matter that almost all of these white whackos have some sort of disturbed manifesto about how they have been conspired against by some one- though it is always in their heads.

If a Muslims or any other brown person- no matter what has been done to them or their- no matter what demonstrable harm they can point to done to them or theirs- their crimes somehow become proof of the over all evil of the Mulsims or brownie of whatever variety. See – no white man is ever responsible for the actions of another white man- but all brown people are always responsible for the actions of another brown person.

my fear is that this kind of tragedy could become a popular way of expressing discontent in NL. what i see in NL is that, there is a clear boundary between native Dutch and those migrants esp. those from Islamic world.

In the US, the NRA thinks everyone should carry an AK-47. Then we would all be safe.

Who cares about which country has a better gun control policy. The bottom line of this story is that individuals and families were enjoying a weekend shopping and they couldn't even do that without being at risk. I am not Dutch but have been to Holland on business many times. I have never felt safer. If this could happen in Holland, it can happen ANYWHERE.

My thoughts go out to all the victims and their family.
You always think that it's not going to happen to you but now it has happened so close..
The shooter is about my age.. How can you do something like this to all those innocent people!? Whatever his motive is.. you just can't do this!!

You can talk about gun laws all you want, but this can happen in every country with every law.. (unfortunatly) there are sick people all over the world. I think that it doesn't solve any problem if everyone has a gun it would only happen more often. If you are at the wrong place at the wrong time and get totally surprised by something like this it doesn't matter if you have a gun to defend yourselve or not.. I think you are totally shocked (I mean it's so surreal) at the moment and you can only think about getting yourselve and your children/partner/parents into safety..

We can discuss this issue about laws all day but I don't think that's what matters now.. There has been a terrible incident here in our country.. Innocent people have died. Let's think about the families who have lost someone important, to them, today and let the police and government do their job.. The only thing that's for sure is that something like this shouldnt happen again!
