'New era of hope' after Gbagbo's arrest, Ivory Coast leader says

Hours after Ivory Coast's self-declared president was captured, the country's internationally recognized president said Monday that nation has "reached the dawn of a new era of hope."

Speaking in a televised address, Alassane Ouattara urged his countrymen to give up violence and lay down their weapons.

Violence erupted after Ivory Coast's disputed presidential election in November and escalated into all-out war when forces loyal to Ouattara recently launched an offensive that brought them into the city of Abidjan.

Forces stormed Gbagbo's residence on Monday and arrested the self-declared president. Ouattara said he has asked the justice minister to start legal proceedings against Gbagbo, his wife and colleagues.

Now that the Gbagbo problem is solved, the allegations of Gen. Abdul Hafiz (the former Force Commander of the UN in Ivory Coast) must be investigated.

How oblivious we all are to the troubles and sufferings of the Ivorians. Killings take place till today by REBELS, who are backed up by the so-called-peace- keeping UN forces, with the French, and the REBELS being Outtoara's men.
These REBELS who are not even Ivorians, dare go the Country ousting their President, to replace him with a non-Ivorian from a neighbouring country.......The actual Ivorians love Gbagbo and fear Alassane. They hate him for bringing war into their country, with the help of the 'WHITES'.....

Knowing many IVORIANS in a foreign country, who are not even interested in Politics, I can confirm the hate for Alassane is just so great in their hearts, and for very strange reason (unlike we hear from the media) I find that they all really love Gbagbo. This finding has left me wonder whether we really know about the internal politics that's involved. The media portrays Gbagbo as the bad guy, but what he really wanted to do is to fight for full Independence of Ivorians. The UN even declared such men in the past as Terrorists or Rebels, only to re-declare/ them (though not admitting their faults) as legit later.....Crazy!!!

Why is it that the Rebels still kill after ousting Gbagbo and declaring a new President, haven't they won?

Outtoara got votes even from the south side, whereas Gbagbo got basically no votes from the north side. How could that happen if not rigged??? Even if Gbagbo was not favoured by the north, he's simply got to get scattered votes here and there, just like Outtoara did in the South.

Think about it, as a True Ivorian, how would you feel??? Your country is undersieged by Rebels supported by the UN and French Troops who took your President away from you, and the Rebels not even being Ivorians. The UN with its so-called peace-keeping force, support REBELS through the fight. What kind of a body, who has no tolerance for REBELS /TERRORISTS would actually support and help them? Who are these WHITES anyway, and why the interest in the country's internal conflicts?

What kind of a True Ivorian would Outtoura be if he could shower WAR upon his own people.......How many has died and how many casualties because of him? Are all these deaths gonna be blamed on Gbagbo? I truly believe Gbagbo had won majority of Ivorian supporters, and Ivorians love and respect him as he was one who have opened Ivorian Eyes in many ways during his reign.

There has got to be someone in the media who to cover what is not known by the World, and not just print what the UN said to print but the true story behind all this mess.
