The ref should have been fined for giving him his 15th tech because he clapped his hands too loudly.

Kobe is a proud decendent of African slave who lives up to his American dream; being an subhuman who can survive hundred years of slavery to come out triumphantly and being a successful, rich highly improved black man (with genes already improved with race mixing from his originally pure african subhuman genes) who now lives in luxury with beautiful white wife. what an achievement!!! that's such a feat. that's an american dream for every descendant of african subhuman slave!!!

Much more to life than that buddy. That statement doesn't sound to kosher. What are you trying to imply? Are you saying that an African descendant working on this plantation in a more sophisticated way in this time, being rich and bowing down is the way to go for the American dream and marrying a white woman. ummm

This is a sad day for Kobe, for the Lakers for the NBA. That he came out, in a moment in anger with such a nasty slur, it means deep inside he holds a deep hatred. If the ref or another player had used the now infamous politically correct for the 21st century 'N' word – wow, would Kobe have been angry! Kobe should be penalized more heavily for this. He should be suspended for at least one game.

We have too many big shot athletic 'heros' who are continually giving the wrong message to their fans, especially young people. It has to stop somewhere...whether it is using verbal insults or shooting up steroids, there are major morality issues we collectively must face. I am a big Laker's fan and loved Kobe Bryant. Now after this outrageous remark, he is just as guilty as the Barry Bonds and A-Rods who abuse their position, their salaries, and place in society.

He plays basketball. He is not the president. He is not a smart man. He is a ball player. If he feels that other player is what he said he is, then so be it. He spoke his mind and his heart. He called the man what he saw him as. He deserves the money he makes , he puts fans in seats. The owners would not pay it if he was not drawing the crowd.

@YoungAmerikan I got an iPad2 for $281. Look they cost $829 retail and the site claims 90% off so it was a lot more than they said but with a $548 saving it was still awesome. But I think the offer is only available in the US and Canada at

@eric portland.. com'on you want KOBE to pay 400,000 for saying a one woed insult in the heat of anger? Would you want a citizen to pay 10,000 dollars for running a stop sign because he makes more money than someone else? com'on you gotta give a fine in the amount of what is resaonable for the offense. 100,000 is over the top and it was because of how much KOBE makes in the first place.

The fine is based on the impact on public perception of the NBA. Which is already viewed as a bunch of thugs. They must fine the impact players more, they have more impact in all ways. These players do not even understand the league is protecting them from themselves. Without the leauge, they are on a park court playing for a 40 ounce of OE. The leauge polices so these guys can make millions, Kobe should go kiss the president of the NBA's feet and thank him for protecting the rest of his millions.

Ok well let's get past Kobe being rich and rather he should or shouldn't of said what he did. The truth is Kobe is one of the most successful hated athletes there is. He might not be histories best but he certainly will be remember as one of histories greatest! People with negative things to say about him are usually not laker fans or don't know how the emotions of a sport can get to even those who judge Kobe for what he said. No money shouldn't make the man or woman for that matter, we have to respect the Refs call but doesn't mean we have to respect the ref. Just a thought!

$100,00.00 for using a three letter word in the heat of of a game.... The fine should have been against Stern. He is out of control. Napoleonic complex....

It is disgusting enough that Kobe had to say that but it's just sad when you all post irrelevant racial slurs on this. You call him a ni99er yet you pretend you are annoyed he uttered the F-word. Bunch of Hippocrates.

It could be people are jelous. It is probably that they are just pathetic for caring about this. I mean if you find yourself caring about a guy who plays basketball well, who could care less about you, find a life. Get a job or two,get a hobby, volunteer, something, anything. This ball player worship is almost as sick as idoling the cast of Jersey shore. These ball player laugh at you. They see you as the pathetic groupie that you are.
