Gotta Watch: Virginia Tech shooting, 1986 U.S.-Libya airstrikes

Remembering the Virginia Tech shootings - During the early morning hours of April 16, 2007, Cho Seung-Hui went on a shooting rampage that left 32 of his fellow students dead. The tragedy shook the campus of Virginia Tech and raised questions as to whether school officials reacted quickly enough. CNN's Brian Todd recounts the first moments of the shootings.

1986: U.S. launches airstrike on Libya - On April 15, 1986, The United States launched an airstrike on Libya. Hours after the attack President Ronald Reagan made a televised address to the American people. In his address, he called the bombings an act of self-defense following the bombing of a West Berlin club that killed two American servicemen and injured several others.

Libyan President Col. Moammar Gadhafi's residential compound suffered a direct hit during the bombings. As a result, the Libyan leader's adopted daughter, Hanna Gadhafi, was killed.

@jazz:do you have ADD that makes it impossible to stay on topic? You and your buddies treat this like your own personal chat site. I enjoy reading other opinions to the CNN news blogs. I don't care if you're cleaning or having a childish snit with your cyber buddies! Take it elsewhere! You & your buddies need to find another thread to socialize on!

@RuffNut: what would you do to Obama, Bush, Clinton, FDR Reagan etc for their shares of blood and wars? Or anyone none "American from US" bombarded and being bomb out there does no deserve your "blow up" style of justice? Let's end this madness style of thinking and think like humans – forgive and stop every war that create anger and pay back! I think there will be no terrorism if we can just stop being racist in our daily lives/business! Whatcha think? 🙂

FYI, Ghadafi never "claimed responsibility" for the bombing of PanAm 103. He agreed to compensate the victims' families and turn over the 2 suspects because he saw that was the only way for the West to stop the embargo against Libya. The trail of the investigation into the bombing initially led to Palestinian terrorists and Libyans are (were?) asserting that's where it should have stayed.

Would you be so cavalier if it were your child, spouse, friend, teacher or lover killed? No, I think not. My daughter was at VT that day; I'm forever grateful she's alive today, and always sorrowful for the 32 families who suffered senseless tragedy. You are a very disrespectful person all around; I feel mostly sad for you, too.

Does anyone remember the videos showimg the luckiest guy in IRAQ just clearimg the bridge. When it blew up in his rearview mirror. Another video was a camera on a bomb that a buildimg kept getting larger and larger and then the door came into focus and the soldier guiding it took it right into the door. At 2am one morning a newsman ran that clip WITH audio! When the building came into view the airman started talking. He mumbled ' come on come on baby come on' as the door came into focus he clearly stated knock kbock mother f##cker! Americas finest WITH a sense of humor!

Let's move on from all this idiotic remembrance days, I'm done with this self-pity BS. People please get a freaking life already, and why not?

Mr. Rizzo, no disrespect, but if you mattered to somebody, wouldn't you want them to remember *you*? Especially if you were the victim of something horrific? I guess you would want everybody to forget you ever existed and please get a freaking life already.

Let them have their day of remembrance. it hurts nobody, and may give the families a measure of comfort.

@Mikola, what is your definition for "assumption"? The biggest problem we have is that certain racist people think it's ok to constantly kill certain people. What do you know about history anyways? Where do you cash your fact and reality checks from? I just don't read the world history and sociology books and sell them cheap to book stores; i keep them and research more. The only reason Kadafi is a monster is because he stands up for his people dignity unlike a puppet like mubarak! Why is it a crime for an African leader to want the best for his people and africa in general? Economic and greediness of privatizing everything to be control by x slave traders! What u say, mikola? 🙂
