Arizona governor vetoes presidential 'birther bill'

Arizona's governor has vetoed a bill that would require President Barack Obama and other presidential candidates to prove they were born in the United States before their names could be placed on Arizona's ballots.

Gov. Jan Brewer, a Republican, said she could not "support designating one person as gatekeeper to the ballot for a candidate."

Under the measure, if there were any dispute about whether a candidate had proved he or she had been born in the United States, Arizona's secretary of state would have the final say.

The Arizona "birther bill" got final approval by a vote of 40-16 last week in the state House. It now will not become law unless legislators vote to override Brewer's veto.

Personally, I'm glad you're an idiot, Vern. Because if you had a brain you would be dangerous.

See- isn't Arizona a wonderful place to watch. But CNN missed covering Florida's 1070 style laws that were just passed. And similar but less comprehensive laws that are being passed all over America. But Az will always be CNN's pinyata- as will Obuma always be their god. Well this law had some genuine issues and challenges. 1070 happened to be pure straightforward Federal verbatim. Some people are all butthurt about this particular veto. They'll be happy again though.

Since when did we start asking illegal aliens to prove they were born here before we hire them? How many thousands are here illegally? Yet most all of them are employed. What's good for the goose(Alfredo the sheepherder) is good for the gander.(person applying for the position of Commander in Chief) Anything more would be civilized.

Obama was born in Kenya and his wife said in multiple speeches in 2007 and 2008 that they visited Obama's home country of Kenya. Also he gave up his Kenyan citizenship when he was Adopted in Indonesia becoming Barry Soetoro. Below is one of several video's I have seen where Michelle Obama stated that they visited the Home Country of Barry Soetoro AKA Barack Hussein Obama.

Even Brewer realized it had to stop. Once you give in to them, they will move on with wanting official state studies to prove Roswell was a cover up, 911 done by the government and that Waco has to be re-investigated. These are the guys worried about 2012 and building survival shelters. Already half of America was laughing at AZ.

Any fool knows that Obama ain't qualified to be Prezident, he was born on a foreign island. I thinks most people know it as "Hawaii." Hawaiians don't even look like Americans, if that's not proof Hawaii isn't part of the United States, I don't know what is. Stupid Liberals.

In 1959 it became part of the United States of America. They did not want to but America forced Hawaii. Get used to it. President Obama is a United States citizen and everyone in the United States' President. He is for the middle man and with all the political crap he is theleast beholden to lobbyist and special interest groups. This might be the last time we have to strengthen our government if everyone would get behind him and get to the bare bones of what the country needs, a united front to get our country together. Come on middle class sets go and clean this mess up. Lets pay our bills and take our country back.

Ummm....just curious. What does an American look like? Last I checked we're a multiethnic and multicultural country. You know the melting pot thing. The Hawaiian Islands are just an extension of the American Empire, and much like the real Americans that inhabited this country, before a bunch of simple minded English and Dutch immigrants came in and blew them to bits, Hawaiians were given the great privilege of becoming U.S. Citizens in exchange for some sweet real estate, and a great new harbor that would enable expansion through naval and amphibious excursions! Doesn't look like a real American? I think their might be some racist undertones in that comment.

  14. I'm Ashamed To Live In a Country With So Many Morons And Blind Sheep... Bah Bah

@D: Between 2001-2005 8 million immigrants came to this country. Half are estimated to be illegal. Guess who was president and guess which party ran things during that period? At least the Democrats are honest about not caring that millions of illegal immigrants come here. The Republicans opened up the flood gates then acted like it was liberal Democrat racial guilt kumbya stockholm syndrome for why so many Mexicans were coming here. This place is a joke. PrisonPlanet is right. May it all burn one day and the warden locked in a tiny box for eternity.
