It's that time of year again, prom season. While many are rushing out to buy the perfect outfit, others are taking a more creative route. They are designing their own prom outfits, and the materials they are using may surprise you.
Prom is as sweet as candy - literally – A Wisconsin mom thought it would be a good idea to design her daughter's prom dress out of Starburst wrappers. The entire creation took a total of six years to produce. The crafty mom also made a matching vest, shoes and handbag with the same material.
Dazzling in duct tape – An Ohio teen and her prom date found themselves in a sticky situation. The two showed up at prom decked out in matching duct tape fashions. Kelli Brinkman says she came up with the idea after attending a duct tape arts and craft camp with the Girl Scouts two years ago – and the idea just stuck.
Prom night's a wrap –The desire to make last year's prom night memorable led an Iowa girl to ditch the traditional gown for one made out of gum wrappers. Elizabeth Rasmuson lost count of how many wrappers she needed to complete the task but her boyfriend says she used at least a couple hundred to make her dress, shoes and his matching vest.
