Gotta Watch: Donald Trump

As MSNBC has said, Donald Trump is to politics what Charlie Sheen is to entertainment. You want to watch him just to see what he says next. He keeps questioning President Obama's birthplace, but he gets annoyed when anyone presses him on his "birther" theory. Trump has been a media magnet for years, and now he's dangling the prospect of a potential presidential run. In today's Gotta Watch, we take a look at some of Trump's greatest hits.

'Birther' controversy - Trump says his strengths as a potential candidate like in his stance on "jobs, the economy, and protecting our nation from OPEC, China and all these other countries that are ripping us off." And yet, he complains that, every time he's on TV, he's asked about the theory that President Obama wasn't born in the U.S. Check out this feisty exchange between Trump and CNN's Ali Velshi and Kyran Chetry.

What's in a Trump name? - From "stupid" to "blatherside," so many in the media have their own way to describe Donald Trump. CNN's Jeanne Moos takes a look.

[cnn-video url="http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/offbeat/2011/04/20/moos.trumpathon.cnn"%5D

Donald Trump said what?? - Sometimes it seems as though Trump says anything that comes to his mind. And it's not always nice. As he eyes a possible presidential run, CNN.com dug up some of the more zany things the mogul has said over the years.

The best movers and doers can only expect to get it right 90% of the time. And this is a really good percentage! So why don't we hang Trump out to dry on his 10% failures? Get real, the guy has it right for this nation. He can't be bought by special interest groups who are killing this nation like US based industry located off shore exempt from US taxes or news broadcasters who are owned by these groups and promote agenda for profits. High profits by avoiding proper taxation is destroying our nation for all. Lets get real because times up! Trump's got it right.

  2. Never Mind

CNN should stick to the topics of what makes a good president and stop pestering over stupid things like birther. Talk about issues, economy, how can my life improve if Trump or who ever becomes president. More and more CNN is becoming a show not a news source.

@johnp1: because when someone asks him a serious question he doesn't like, he get blustery and doesn't answer. Witness: the "birther" issue. And it has nothing to do with the media; Trump's just a bully.

One thing is certain. Donald Trump can't do any worse than Barck Obama unless he adopts a foreign policy of absolute genocide which is rather dubious. First and foremost,we do need a lassez-faire foreign policy and need it in the worst way imaginable!!!

Why is it that being a complete clown is revered in America today? Whatever happened to talking seriously about issues instead of engaging in crazy conspiracy theories from a freaking reality TV show. What's next is presidential candidate snooki from jersey Shore?

Obama has already admitted he was born in Kenya, lets get over it. We were bluffed into thinking he would do right. We are just too dumbed down to even know who we vote for. At least Trump tells it the way it is. He is looking better all the time.

Donald Trump is too opinionated and too arrogant to lead this country. His falling will be his inability to listen to the people because he's too busy rambling.

  8. issue

CNN, Trump's opinion on the birthplace of Obama is what it is, so stop asking it. The network only asks him about the birther issue, then complains that thats what he is all about. Its not his most important issue, or the issue he wishes to discuss. It becomes the main topic of interviews when the interviewer makes it that way. It is also irresponsible and childish to threaten a person, saying "Say Obama was born in the United States and we will stop asking you questions about it." That is the most amateur statement by a news network that I have heard in a long time.

He mentioned on CNN this morning that his net worth is very high due to the fact that he has low debt. If memory serves me correctly I believe he filed bankruptcy a couple of years ago. My debt load would be low if I did that too.

new comment President Obama was abaondoed by his father. He only met his father once. Ronald Reagan's father was a fall down drunk, do you hold that against President Reagan. George W Bush was a fall down drunk and convicted criminal, did you hald that against him. Cheney was a 3 time convicted criminal before he became VP. Let's face it Noel if Quadafi promised to cut your taxes while he was simultaneously h* mping your mom, you would vote for him

I caught the tail end of Trump's interview with Ali Velshi and Kyran Chetry and to say it was a train wreck would be the understatement of the year. Trump ended up looking every bit the fool that he is and kept harping on the fact that CNN's own ratings show him at the top of the heap. The problem is, the heap at which is is that dung heap known as Republican party candidates. Mr. Trump, the fact that more idiots in the GOP like you than any other candidate does not mean you are a viable candidate in 2012, let alone that you will be elected. It's time for you to knock off the birther talk, shut your piehole, and crawl back under the rock from which you slithered.

Donald Trump as a presidential candidate would be an absolute joke. The Birther promo isnt whats hurting him its the fact he cannot relate to normal americans who wake up every single day to make just enough money to feed there children and keep the lights on.. In an interview once he was asked "Considering the great decline is job oppertunities and the rise of unemployment what do you think should be the next step for americans?"..this people champ responded..."I believe that americans arent looking hard enough they should move to states where the economy hasnt effected them so greatly.." Are you effin kiddin me man..How are you going to just pick up and mosey on over to another state to look for work...THERE BROKE!!! Maybe its me i must not be seeing something..

    • Move to another State for a JOB

I actually watched the Interview that Trump talked about moving to another state to look for a job. That's the best advice I have got this year and I am in the process of packing up my bags and going to look for work in another state where unemployment is low.The idea might not work for everyone especially those with houses and kids, but if you think about it,it makes a lot of sense. No point in suffering in a state with high unemployment when you can sacrifice, make a move and try it out in another state. After all, this is coming from a business thinker.Still packing and getting ready to move across states for new opportunities

What you are talking about is the situation in this country that Republicans and Democrats have created. Folks might like to link Donald Trump as a potential culprit to what is going on now, but the situation this country faces today is the grand result of all Republicans and Democrats created in the 20th century. Right after WWII, this country has been systematically dismantled and we have the Democrats and Republicans to thank for that.

  14. Trump is charlatan

Trump is a charlatan in the world of politics. He's not even that great of a businessman, making his money (that which he didn't inheirit) through real estate, casinos, network marketing, and reality TV. He never climbed the corporate ladder from top to bottom nor did he invent anything or even create a business model that was a game changer in any shape or form.
