Widow 'overwhelmed' by news that husband delivered baby Obama

The widow of the doctor whose signature is on President Obama's birth certificate was honored to learn of her husband's role in bringing the future president into the world and hoped the document would end debate over his citizenship.

"It is a great thrill and a great honor and I had no idea," Ivalee Sinclair, an Obama supporter, said Wednesday in a phone interview from her home in Honolulu, Hawaii.

"I was just overwhelmed with the news."

David Sinclair's name appears as the attending physician on the live birth certificate that the White House released Wednesday in response to doubts over his citizenship. The "birther debate" has waxed and waned since Obama's presidential campaign, returning with renewed vigor last week due in large part to the efforts of billionaire entrepreneur Donald Trump.

According to the document, Obama was born on August 4, 1961, in the Kapiolani Maternity and Gynecological Hospital in Honolulu, where David Sinclair spent most of his career delivering around 10,000 babies, his wife said.

Sinclair served in World War II as a fighter pilot before going to medical school and embarking on a decades-long career as a respected physician.

"I just know he loved what he was doing and he had a wonderful rapport with his patients," Ivalee Sinclair said. "When he passed away, many called to share funny stories that he'd shared with them, to tell me they'd named children after him or other such honors, so I know he was dearly loved by his patients."

Ivalee Sinclair said she hoped the birth certificate would put the matter to rest and echoed President Obama's remarks that the country had "better stuff to do."

"I think President Obama was correct when he said it was a distraction that takes away from the real issues and we have huge, huge real issues that our country is facing," she said. "We need people to work together not at one another’s throats."

She said she didn't think her husband knew of his connection to the president because he died in 2003, before Obama announced his candidacy. But if he did, he never mentioned it.

"Physicians honor the confidentiality of their patients so he never said anything to me about this, and at that time, we had no way of knowing that President Obama was going to be president," she said.

I believe proper grammar would suggest "an idiot". Careful with name calling in this context...

People are so thickled. I sincerely think that some people on here are using the birther debate as a form of racsm. How many other presidents national origin have been questioned. None because they are all white. Obama's mother is caucasion and his father an African student. He was born in Hawaii and still has relatives there so what is the big deal. If people found more to do with their time like feeding the homeless, which Trump could surely be doing instead of wondering where the president was born, the world would be a better place. Based on the fact that some of these people care more about criticizing like him or not the President instead of sending him a letter with your ideas, is ridiculous. Trump hasn't said anything about the tornados that killed 150 to 173 people in the south, neither has he offered any assistance but he's a billionaire, come on. This is all politics and the people who are the most critical dont have any solutions to the very things they say are wrong.

SORRY, I still don't believe he was born an American. Being president, he can get whatever he wants and when he wants it. There is alos evidence that he was born someplace else. ALso, that his mother traveled to Hawaii a few days after his birth just so she could register him.
I don't trust or believe anything he says. Let's hope for someone different in the next election.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

His mother was an American citizen, so now matter where he was born (which was Hawaii by the way) he is an American citizen (a naturalized American citizen.). If either of your parents is an American citizen then you are an American citizen. Period. End of Discussion.

What is this evidence? Did Limbaugh or Glen Beck present it to you? I would LOVE to see evidence that he was born in another country. Or is that kind of like Biblical evidence of the the resurrection of this Christ character? You just have to BELIEVE it is there. Have faith, racists, and I'm sure some evidence will turn up.

Are you aware of the fact a CNN article confirmed there was a BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT THE DAY HE WAS BORN?
In the local paper in Hawaii. So why should that not be good enough for anyone is beyond me. You know this is evil stuff. A fact is a fact people who cannot let a fact be a fact are saturated with evil.

The reason the Panama thing is not the same is because he was born on a military installation, which, technically, is considered US territory. A hospitial in Mumbasa isn't granted that same status.

Trump is an exceptional man, I always thought. Now I cannot understand why he doesn't know when to fold 'em. His cards that is. He is playing a really losing game. He must know by now Obama is an American the same as him.

The whole birth thing would have never been a issue if, 1. Obama didn't have immediate relatives that state he was born in Kenya and they were there. 2. He had released the birth certificate in the very beginning of the the controversy It's obvious his handlers wanted to see this issue grow so they could exploit it for their own political agenda. If it's a side show, Obama is the ring master.

What immediate relative, that was a made up lie just like the rest of this is. They did not let you hear the rest of the tape when they asked his step-grandmother where he was born. She repeatedly said in America and Hawaii. No, the ring masters of this circus are the birthers! Next time do your homework before commenting.

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Steve, if you had bothered to educate yourself rather than choosing to remain stupid you would know 1) President Obama had minimal contact with his father or members of his father's family. He was raised by his mother and her parents. There was no influence by his father. His father nor the father's family had any input in raising him. 2) You would also know that the President submitted his birth certificate three years ago when this cr@p first started. People like you chose not to acknowledge it the same as you are doing now. About the only thing you can accuse President Obama of is making people like you show yourselves for who and what you really are; ignorant, petty, jealous racist. You people look like fools, not the President.
