Court lifts ban on federal funding for stem cell research

A federal court has given the Obama administration the go-ahead to continue embryonic stem cell research.

The controversial 2-1 decision Friday is a victory for supporters of federally funded testing for a range of diseases and illnesses.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia lifted an injunction imposed last year by a federal judge, who said all embryonic stem cell research at the National Institutes of Health amounted to destruction of embryos, in violation of congressional spending laws.

The case is Sherley v. Sebelius (10-5287).

  1. Sheeple

American medicine disgusts me, I have a brain injured child I would do anything for. I have researched long and hard on stem cells and Embryonic stem cells are worthless. Worthless!! There has not been a single case in the history of Mankind where a Embryonic stem cell has helped or cured one single person. Adult stem cells are currently being used in many countries and show much promise. Many people I know have been helped by Adult stem cells. Sadly they have had to travel to other countries to get it. Why not fund research on Adult Stem cells instead of Embryonic? There is no moral issue with ASC, they are in our bodies , in our fat, in cord blood, in bone marrow and elsewhere, plentiful. In the meantime doctors are getting rich off taxpayer money researching useless crap. And the sheeple argue over weather it's moral or not. It's all smoke and mirrors sheeple.

There is no money to be made in finding a cure, only in the maintenance and so called "research"

Obama is in favor of the culture of death. The administration fought to force American tax dollars to fund research to destroy human embryos for their stem cells. This research with human stem cells is of no merit…a evil means to an end this isn’t justifed because you have parkinson. Adult stem cells have been shown to be of benefit…so you can achieve the same end without killing human babies….shame on you baby killer Obama!

    Yes, I have.

    HAL
    I suppose it's because you've
been under a lot of stress, but
    have you forgotten that they're
not supposed to be revived for
    another three months.

    BOWMAN
The antenna has to be replaced.

    HAL
Repairing the antenna is a pretty
    dangerous operation.

    BOWMAN
It doesn't have to be, Hal. It's
more dangerous to be out of
touch with Earth. Let me have
    manual control, please.

    HAL
I don't really agree with you, Dave.
My on-board memory store is more

    If you're determined to revive
the crew now, I can handle the
    whole thing myself. There's no
    need for you to trouble.

    BOWMAN
I'm goin to do this myself, Hal.
Let me have the control, please.

    HAL
    Look, Dave your've probably got
a lot to do. I suggest you leave
    it to me.

    BOWMAN
    Hal, switch to manual hibernation
    control.

    HAL
I don't like to assert myself, Dave,
but it would be much better now for
you to rest. You've been involved
    in a very stressful situation.

I can tell from the tone of your
    voice, Dave, that you're upset.
Why don't you take a stress pill
    and get some rest.

    BOWMAN
Hal, I'm in command of this
ship. I order you to release
    the manual hibernation control.

    HAL
    I'm sorry, Dave, but in
    accordance with sub-routine
    C1532/4, quote, When the
    crew are dead or incapacitated,
    the computer must assume
    control, unquote. I must,
    therefore, override your
    authority now since you are
not in any condition to intel-
    ligently exercise it.

    BOWMAN
    Hal, unless you follow my
    instructions, I shall be forced
    to disconnect you.

    HAL

    BOWMAN
I am prepared to do that anyway.

    HAL
I know that you've had that on
your mind for some time now,
Dave, but it would be a crying
shame, since I am so much
    more capable of carrying out
this mission than you are, and
I have such enthusiasm and confi-
    dence in the mission.

    BOWMAN
Listen to me very carefully, Hal.
    Unless you immediately release
    the hibernation control and
follow every order I give from
this point on, I will immediately

Of cours they couldn't have been used to treat your son, embryonic stem cells are still in the R&D stages, and have also not yet been approved by the FDA. Granted, they might not need to be approved by the FDA.
And to the person who's bashing on someone who has experience in the field of the subject matter, he is simply providing insight. Which is quite obviously far more than something you could ever produce.

God, you people have absolutely no GD common sense at all!!!

Obama has nothing to do with the whole stem-cell research, which has been going on for freaking years.
Stem cells do not have to be embryonic stem cells. They may come from other sources, such as umbilical cords, which comes from LIVE BIRTHS! So, s*t*f*u, Mmmmmmm, your rants are becoming unbearable. Go back to being the smart ass snarky beondybeotch you usually are.
