Flooding closes I-40 in Arkansas

More than 20 miles of westbound Interstate 40 in eastern Arkansas is closed due to flooding, state police reported early Thursday. The closure is between the towns of Hazen and Brinkley, according to Lt. Jackie Clark, who said he expects the eastbound lanes to close later in the day.

It took my mother 5.5 hours to travel from Memphis to Little Rock yesterday, a trip that usually takes 2.5 hours. She was rerouted on highways to bypass the flooded section of I-40.

Checking to see if you know whether or not I-40 thru Memphis & Arkansas are clear this week. We're heading to Tulsa, OK on Thursday and wanted to know the best route to take if there's flooding in that area... maybe I-20 to Dallas, TX.
