Gotta Watch: Dogs of war
The recent mission to capture and kill Osama bin Laden has only underscored the need for military canine units. It was recently revealed that part of the SEAL team included a dog , who was choppered in to help identify possible threats to his team. These videos highlight stories of heroic military dogs during times of peace and war.
Deployed canines honored – A dog who survives six IED explosions surely deserves a war monument. Jacko is just one of many dogs to be honored at the F. Walton working dog memorial.

How disgusting this is! The use of dogs to kill people is absolutely appalling to say the least. Dogs should be used as pets,not as murder weapons. In fact,I'd much rather be taken out by a bullet than a dog.

If dogs can help save lives, they should be deployed. Many of these PETA types openly acknowledge that it's better to have many young people die rather than risk a dog. Misplaced values and lack of understanding
Some dogs are bred to work...hence the category of breed "working dogs". This is a highly rewarding lifestyle for these working dogs, its what they are bred for. Not all dogs make good pets....just like not all soldiers make good friends.
Wow, you all are a bunch of idiots. Dogs are rarely used to kill people, they are used to save lives. They main function in a time of war is for searching out things, like explosives and people in hiding. Along with this they help protect their fellow soldiers (yes these dogs are soldiers too). Protection can be in the form of alerting humans of a danger or by taking a bullet or IED themselves to protect human lives.
Yes, dogs will attack and kill if need be, but our soldiers typically use their guns/knifes/bombs long before they ever put into danger their fellow soldier (aka ordering a dog to kill).

go back to PETA and shut your mouth....dogs are very useful tools in war and in crime fighting. they don't use them to actually kill people, but as a deterrent and search tool....they sense of smell is far by greater than a humans and can find things that we would otherwise miss.....actually if you want to get specific dogs were never put into this world to be pets....they are pack animals and the dingos of Australia show what dogs really are like in the wild. Man just domesticated them for work just as they have done with horses, cows and other animals. Just over time that man has made them pets and more recently people consider them their 'child'. Get your mind straight on their linneage before you talk about how stupid it is

These dogs save lives. They are not weapons; they are protectors. They sniff bombs. They alert to threats. They care for and ease the suffering of PTSD patients.
Cisco- what unit were you in? My dad was in the 47th IPSD. Dogs saved his life and the lives of his men on a daily basis.
If you looked into the Military Working Dog program you would realize that these dogs are trained to save lives by sniffing out bombs and people. There are "Scout" and "Patrol" dogs who are trained to attack but it is very rare that they actually kill someone. In fact have you ever heard of a military dog killing someone? The amount of American military and foreign civilian lives they save makes them heroes.

I'm sorry, but having trained protection dogs, I can say with certainty that these dogs are not "trained to kill". Rather, they are trained to go for the arm, leg, or other non-vital area in an effort to severely slow down a person's escape. These dogs are trained to bite and HOLD, not to rip and tear, and to release on a command from their handler.
Any human that presses an animal into service for their war agenda is the lowest form of putrid filth walking the planet; lower even than terrorists who press human children into service.

look you PETA loving ignoramus, the use of dogs in war is not only beneficial but necessary. The dogs, by taking the lives of insurgents, are protecting American servicemen from harm. By the way, dogs aren't just used for violence. I myself am a dog handler in the Marine Corps and my dog is trained to detect IEDs. But wait, i bet you think that is worse right? Sending a dog to find a bomb. Stop being so naive.

moron....just cause YOU don't like dogs, doesn't mean you have to spew your filth to the rest of us.....I guess you thiink it is wrong that dogs originally were pack animals and fought each other for dominance, and that's without humans being around.....dogs are very useful tools as they have senses that humans could only wish we had...they can smell things that we would never be able to sense and they can hear things we would never heard.....dogs aren't actually used to kill people and are a useful tool in finding bombs, drugs and other things we as humans would never find easily on our own.....get your head out of your a$$ and understand them before you spew stuff you don't know anything about

Hey Ted I bet you didn't know at one time the retirement for these dogs was as research animals.
In Italy common street thugs use knock out gas on trains to rob the passengers. It would very naive to think that our elite forces don't have this weapon. We still would have taken his computer hardware if we had taken him alive.
