Pakistan arrests dozens in connection with bin Laden compound

Dozens of people in the Pakistani city of Abbottabad have been arrested because of their suspected connections to the compound where Osama bin Laden was shot and killed, a Pakistani intelligence official said Friday.

Some of the individuals were arrested around the compound and investigators still need to determine if any of the people arrested have any connection with al Qaeda.

This story is developing. We'll bring you the latest information as soon as we get it.

Bush was a warmongering lying criminal...the ONLY US President with an arrest record, whose daddy got him out of 'Nam service and out of doing time for cocaine, who finished college at the bottom of his class and lied America into 2 wars, If that's your definition of great, you are indeed a fool.

Why are we giving Pakistan $$$ – it makes absolutely no sense – we're bribing them to behave....moreover we have to beg them to give us the helicopter that crashed back....let's get out of the country and just let it implode on its own.

They should just arrest the ones with facial hair and big noses. Oh, and millitary uniforms. Yeah, that should do it.

I am Indian. But love US more than my country. I completely support the US action of killing Osama. My only request and wish is US realizes the double game Pakistan is playing since many decades and avoid at the least the future attacks from these fanatic individuals and organizations. Can somebody , please tell me why US is not getting it ? No matter what Pakistan ISI and Army will keep supporting these fanatic organization, so they can extract aid from innocent US.

Pakistan is extorting $$$$ from USA. They have nuclear weapons, and will demand more $$$$ in aid from USA or shift
in support of radical Islam. Do you think USA will tolerate an al-Qaeda/Taliban friendly Pakistan ... no. and so the USA is walking the thin-line and paying

Pakistan is the heart of muslim natiions and that is why US want to keep it on its side even if the cost is India. Pakistan has already working partnership with China and moving all the muslim countries toward buying weapons from China instead of US. Search for JF-17 aircraft wikipedia.

Many Americans "get it", now that we have Bin Laden you can likely expect a cooling of our relationship with PakiSTAIN.

      afzal,
It's spelled "Moron" not "Moran"...dumba$$....and if you're from Pakistan and don't think that people within your government and communities don't support terrorism as well as Osama Bin Laden....then you sir, are the Moron!!!!

Langor, I dont' think so – You will see cool relations with India as compare to Pakistan. For US the most important thing is national security and Pakistan is the country seems to be the one holding cards. Some of the congressman tried to stop the aid but after a day everybody was quiet on the subject.

As if US never played double, triple, and quadruple games. As for your assumption that US not getting it, do you get that US has no choice and they know it. Beside, how do you know that US is not playing triple game. I think you just want US give money to India.

Yup! This third world country failed to find one OBL in their back yard! Just hours from the Pakistani Capital, minutes from military installations living in plain sight! ISI failed to find him although there were many clues, CIA director is correct, ISI is incompetent.
Now, how is this any different from your agency’s utter failures Mr. Director? Your agency with the budget of billions and the most sophisticated technologies available to mankind missed 19 terrorists learning to fly airplane, living minutes from the CIA HQ, NSA, the Pentagon and the U.S Capital knocked down your buildings and killing murdering thousands of innocent people. There is a laundry list of your failures, people with glass houses should not cast stone upon others!!

We never condemn Israel even though we know some of its actions are illegal and inhumane. Likewise, Pakistan will never break with Taliban fully no matter what. Its not based on logic and reasoning. Its because of blood relations. Pak society has only two classes...the rich and the poor. The rich are ambivalent and the poor are radical. Unless there's a progressive middle class, there is no scope for change. If US wants to help Pak, create this middle class...build schools and colleges, donate books and computers...don't give F16s and other old weaponry at discount prices and call it aid. There is no question that radicalism that we supported in that area during the 80s' has come back to bite us.

Why don't you all consider the fact that Mother's Day is approaching. Your mother should've taught you better grammar. She should've taught you love and respect for others. There is raging ignorance on both sides – in the US and Pakistan. There are terroristic people on both sides. Mother's Day was presented by Julia Ward Howe as a day for mothers everywhere to march for peace. It wasn't about quickie gifts and flowers. Mothers marching for peace - for their children who hopefully don't grow up to be name-calling idiots.

US and Pakistan are like a couple who are cheating with each other. US dropped Pakistan after the Afghan war and Pakistan is living in the constant fear of being cheated again. India is the mistress. Hopefully US and Pakistan will be able to sort out differences.
