Man dies in jump from world's tallest building

A man committed suicide Tuesday by jumping off the 147th floor of the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

The man landed on a deck on the 108th floor of the 160-story structure, according to news reports from Dubai.

Dubai police confirmed the suicide, according to a report posted by The Gulf Today.

The man was described as an Asian in his mid-30s.

"The deceased works at one of the companies located at Burj Khalifa itself. We also came to know that the man decided to commit suicide as his company refused to grant  leave," a police official told The Gulf Today.

The Burj Khalifa is 2,716.5 feet tall and is the tallest free-standing structure in the world. It officially opened in 2010.

The object lesson of this article is that if you want to kill yourself, a 39 story building will suffice.

This story needs to stop showing up under "We suggest". Month of May is nearly up and we don't need to keep revisiting a story about a guy who couldn't even jump off a building correctly. Sure it was the tallest building, but he managed to only fall 39 stories.
He was probably denied leave because of his lack of follow through on projects.

To each his own – if he was to go, more power to him. Can we make some dive-sushi? Very rare, and exquisite tasting with a fine first-drain soy sauce.

The Saudis were the favorite coming into this Olympic Event, but the Judges awarded the Gold Medal to the Asian in a MAJOR upset !!

Of course it's "beautiful". That's what lots of oil money can do. A lot of money can buy a lot of beauty.

All you posters arguing about dying on the way down (which btw is idiotic) – note this dope only made it down to the 106 story, didn't even make it to the ground. Kind of like a cliff diver that doesn't jump far enough "out" into the air and just hits the cliffside facefirst.

Anyone recall how long the freefall was for that guy who jumped out at ~100,000 feet?

the building is not built for jumping without some prior planning like jumping as far out from the building as possible.
