First-time jobless benefit claims decline again

The number of Americans filing for their first week of unemployment benefits dropped sharply for the second straight week.

In the week ended May 14, 409,000 Americans filed for their first week of unemployment benefits, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Gary I did not post this post either. I try to have civil discussions and learn from others, not degrade them.

@scottishmama. Democrats and Republicans alike are to blame for this mess. It started under Clinton when Gingrich and Clinton passed and signed into law the repeal of the Glass-Steele act which was a law that made banks hold more reserves than they lent out or invested in property. It continued with Clinton, gingrich and Chris Dodd easing the loan restrictions at Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac. It culminated with. Barney Frank not properly overseeing Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac and in fact denying any housing bubble problem right up to the end. You see I'm neither Republican nor Democrat, I'm an American and I place the blame squarely where it belongs, on both parties. However if you want to place blame more Democrats were involved in the mess than Republicans, it just happened that a Republican was in the White House when the bill came due.

And in a week or so, the numbers will be revised again.....The jobs "saved" and jobs "created" are pie in the sky and phony, like most of the events in D.C.

I'm more interested in how many people are filing for their 120th week of unemployment. Where's the story on that CNN.

@Jim – cannot get rid of it. I looked up the Glass Steagall Act Actually starts in 1932. Read all of the areas to come back and find I have been trolled. You are right that it has been revised the first that started in 1980, I can only assume with Reagan, then 1999 by Clinton and Gingrich, Then Bush further deregulated, McCain tried to help fix it with a Washington friend and the Dodd- Frank which does not go far enough. I think with all the talk of the Arms and Banks and Mark to Market and Basel Accords I now understand why us ordinary people have such a hard time grasping the concepts of what the heck went wrong. I just hope we can find just anyone to stand up to special interest in both parties and help us to unite and become a country again. I am tired of the B S and the troll that seems to love me.
