Gotta Watch: Casey Anthony's trial

It's shaping up to be one of the year's most riveting trials and it's just getting started. Casey Anthony's defense attorneys didn't waste any time, immediately going on the attack during opening statements. With bombshell allegations of  sexual abuse and an accidental drowning, this capital murder trial may become the year’s most watched.
You’ve gotta watch the most compelling elements of Casey Anthony’s trial.

The history of Casey Anthony – The saga began in June 2008 and the investigation for Caylee Anthony would take several turns before her mother was indicted for murder.

Casey's defense – Casey Anthony's defense said she was worried she would go to jail after her daughter's accidental drowning. It also said Casey's father molested her.

The prosecution's turn – Prosecutors say Casey Anthony is guilty of murder and that her daughter's death was no accident.

The defense is calling the prosecution's use of a graphic video that features a smiling Caylee Anthony with a skull and duct tape superimposed over her face highly prejudicial, saying it only serves to inflame the jurors.

The accusation came in the third week of the trial of Caylee's mother, 25-year-old Casey Anthony, who faces seven counts in her daughter's death, including first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and misleading investigators.

If convicted, she could face the death penalty. She has pleaded not guilty.

Caylee's cause of death and the condition of her body when discovered months after she was reported missing have been the focus in recent days. The trial is scheduled to resume Saturday.

The defense on Friday argued against allowing the video into court, saying it presented just one of many possible scenarios and would only inflame sentiments among the jurors.

But the prosecution countered, saying it was necessary "to establish the state's theory that this duct tape was sufficient to be the murder weapon."

Orange County Chief Judge Belvin Perry agreed to allow the video into evidence, saying the role of duct tape in the girl's death was "highly relevant."

Perry also denied a mistrial motion made by the defense, related to the video, at the close of Friday's proceedings.

Attorneys for Anthony have said Caylee drowned in the family pool and that Casey Anthony and her father, George Anthony, panicked and tried to cover up the death. George Anthony denied that scenario during his testimony.

Prosecutors allege Anthony used chloroform on her daughter and suffocated her by putting duct tape over the little girl's mouth and nose.

Why didn't anyone in Casey Anthony's neighborhood smell the decomposing body? Even when you drive by a dead skunk the odor gets in your car. I can't imagine living that close and not getting a whiff.

Yesterday, June 14th, Cindy Anthony testified from the stand that she, Casey, Caylee and Cindy's mother had traveled in the Pontiac Sunfire many times while being questioned about the potential of hair in the vehicle. The prosecution was again establishing compelling evidence that the decomposed hair could only have come from Caylee. Ms. Nancy Grace on her show last night stated in fact that Cindy Anthony's mother had NEVER been in that vehicle. Ms. Grace simply misspoke, or her producers did not inform her of the FACTS of this case or were ignorant of these facts. Ms. Grace obviously is not following this case as closely as the tens of thousands of us if not more, who are LISTENING to every word of testimony. MY POINT is simply you need the facts to make your own decision. Who you rely on to provide you with those facts is your decision. I appreciate Ms. Grace for keeping this case relevant over the past three years. MY MESSAGE is you as an individual must gather you information from the most reliable source. At this point, that source must be the sworn to court testimony and NOT any of the many "talking heads" across the innumerable local, national and cable networks.

The defense witness today (Huntington) likes to hear himself talk. He rarely answers a question straight on, and at times never answers the question asked. He is clearly out of his league here and doing this for the exposure. However I'm not sure the kind of exposure he is now getting is what he expected.
I hope his students see this and take a different class!
Jose B. is reaching for the moon again and really shoudl be reviewed for disbarring after this fiasco.

EVERY ONE WANTS TO KNOW MOTIVE IF YOU REMEMBER ALL HER FRIENDS AT THAT TIME INCLUDING HER BOYFRIEND WERE GOING ON VACATION . CASEY WANTED TO GO THAT WOULD TAKE 3 TO 4 MONTHS TO PLAN AND PAY FOR SO THE SICKO WAS GOING TO TRY AND GO THAT EXPLAINS HER PLANNING THE MURDER AND ALL THE COMPUTER SEARCHES. THEN THAT PUTS HER IN THE STATE OF MIND THAT SHE MEANT TO DO IT. THIS EXPLAINS STEALING THE GRANDMA AND THE STEALING OF THE MOMS MONEY.SHE GOT CAUGHT STEALING THE MONEY AND THAT SCREWED UP THE VACATION WHAT I DONT GET IS HOW SHE CAN EXPLAIN DITCHING THE CAR WAHAT WAS HER EXCUSE.

At first I thought Baez was just incompetent, but now by ignoring Judge's orders on written reports and by making so many other errors, I have begun to believe that Baez really wants a mistrial. That would be victory for him, since this is undoubtedly the most notoriety he has gotten, or if debarred, will ever get. My major question is when the "renowed Dr. Spitz" who helpled OJ get acquitted lies on the stand (first said that he had only had one interview until prosecution probed about his appearance on 48 hours and The Today Show...), or when yesterday's incompetent garden lady contradicts herself, can they be tried for perjury? Of course Dr. Spitz did admit he was "out of the mainstream." Yep, it has been a while since OJ. Last point: we were told that the jury were first asked how much they followed the news, and ostensibly none of them paid attention to the news. Doesn't that imply they would only then be affected by emotional appeal and not DNA, very similar to the OJ jury?

I dont understand how casey thinks she's so smart and smiling all along during the case today, she was busy helping the lawyers and telling them what to do, is it because she thinks she is getting the jury to be sidetracked by her lawyer Biaz?

they should lock casey up for even leaving the child in that swamp and she sitting at home and getting all the attention, that is enough to lock her up for at least 20 years, lying to police and disposing of a body in such a manner should be another 5 years, that will keep the fool in jail for 25 years, and then the checks and scandalizing the woman name another 8 years, so there you go, cause I dont think she is going to get the death penalty, unless the jury take into account how she lied even in the police custody when she was being questioned/

the syringe means that maybe casey injected the girl and they would never know because the body decomposed to only bones, I think she locked the child in the trunk because she wanted to go out partying, when she came back the child was dead, I dont think she let the child stay in the trunk too long, so thats why you dont see the maggets in the trunk, and who would take the child's blankets, bag and trash bags and throw the child out in the woods like that, so how is the jury going to let her walk even if the case is a mistrial, I think biaz wants out of this case, cause he mess it up from the beginning.

FIRST I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THIS IS A BABY THE WORLD HAS COME TO LOVE. I DO BELEIVE THAT THERE IS MORE GOING ON THEN THE PEOPLE WILL EVER KNOW. BUT IF THE BODY WAS THAT CLOSE TO HOME .WHEN YOU DRIVE OR EVEN WALK BY THAT AREA YOU SHOULD HAVE SMELLED THAT FOR EVEN BLOCKS. WHY NOT BUZZARDS IN THE AREA . IF BUZZARDS ARE THERE YOU SHOULD HAVE HAD CIRCLE ACTIVITY IN THAT AREA.

To me it is very strange that George tried to commit suicide & said in his letter, "it is should have been me that died not Caylee". He appears to be guilty about something, and I think he held onto a missing puzzle piece.
This is a family that hides things, suppresses, runs away................and something is being hidden by the family, no doubt in my mind.
