Florida boy wrestles 6-foot alligator back to house

Michael Dasher thought he had hooked a good-sized fish Wednesday.

The 10-year-old and two friends were fishing in a canal near his home in Rockledge in Brevard County, Florida, when the line snapped.

Michael's buddy, Kentral Welch, thought his friend was reeling in a big one "...until I saw his face," CNN affiliate WKMG in Orlando reported.

What they were staring at was a 5-foot-9 long alligator, which charged at the boys. Michael says he used a stick and even got on the animal's back. Then Michael dragged the gator home.

Wildlife officers were called and said they had to tell Michael he could have been charged with a felony for capturing an alligator. He says he learned his lesson. Next time, he'll just out run it.

And you need to learn to spell needs without the apostrophe- his hair is fine.

Hey, chess54, what does the boy's hair have to do with the story?
You need to get a life and perhaps go back to English 101. (need's???????????)
You just can't polish a sneaker, chess.

If the kid had not taken the alligator home, the alligator could have persued him, got his foot in his mouth, dragged him into the water, and drowned him.

You won't see little girls doing something like this! It's no coincidence that more males are born than females. You can figure out why.

I am a girl and when i was his age I was going around picking up snakes and all kinds of reptiles. I don't think being a boy has anything to do with catching a 'gator. I have lived next to a lake filled w/gators my whole life and I have caught plenty of them. If I could post pics of them I would. I hate when people think that girls are sissy's.

Margaret, actually more females are born than males; it's not a substantial amount.

That is why our gators don't eat us in Louisiana. We eat them before they can get us. Leave the little man alone. He's just having fun.

This child and his friends could have been killed by that 'gator. Especially when the reptile whacked the boy in the face with its tail. The boy could have fallen and been eaten. A felony??? What would YOU do if a 'gator chased after you?

A Felony?!? How about a medal. That kid has some courage and skill to go with it. I'm 6'1 250 and you won't catch me anywhere near a gator. LOL

I agree with Margaret, a girl would run like hell which is certainly the smarter thing to do. It won't get you one the news though! And the little man's hair is fine.
