Unborn child has Facebook profile

Unborn baby Marriah Greene has a lot to say, at least according to her Facebook profile.

The child attends Tummy University, enjoys soccer and swimming and talks in first person. And her friends talk back to her– in baby-speak, naturally.

Of course, it’s really her mother, Ellie Greene of Whitehouse, Texas, updating the page, but the fetus already has more than 260 friends.

When Ellie and her husband, Matt, decided it was time to announce their pregnancy, they wanted a quick, inclusive method, and what’s faster than Facebook to spread exciting news?

“Within a day she had over 100 friends,” Ellie said, according to affiliate KLTV.

[cnn-video url="http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/living/2011/05/31/dnt.unborn.baby.facebook.cnn"%5D

Friends quickly responded to updates about Marriah. They give advice, make jokes and compliment her beauty in the ultrasound photos.

“We wanted to keep the page going, so she could go back and look at it,” Ellie said, giving her daughter the opportunity to see how many people adored her before she was even born.

The parents plan to continue updating the page, with her birth story coming soon. After all, “The word in the belly is there's a lot more to see.”

Wonderful way to get people's attention.....LIFE BEGINS IN THE WOMB! ...And when an abortion is done...A LIFE IS KILLED....A FUTURE DOCTOR, A FUTURE MOTHER, A FUTURE FATHER, A FUTURE PRESIDENT, A FUTURE POLITICAL LEADER, A FUTURE FRIEND that could have given support and consolation to family and friends!
Congratulations to the parents.....my 2 boys were a surprise to me and are the BIGGEST BLESSING of my life....no matter how easy or hard it's been!

A future Bin Laden, a future Timothy McVeigh, a future Hitler. Every time an anti-choice person likes to bring up how abortion kills some wonderful future adult, I like to remind them that childbirth has brought in plenty of crappy people into this world also. Get a better anti-choice argument before you go spouting off like that.

This article says nothing about abortion, yet you had to make a comment on it. Feeling a little insecure in your beliefs?

Nice. Are you one of those pro-lifers who fight to protect a fetus' right t life, yet once it's born think it shouldn't get welfare, and if, dog forbid, it murders someone, should get the death penalty?

So by your logic, KK, none of us should ever have been born, because we are all basically evil? What a fine, positive outlook you have.

Wow Canadian Genius, your version of logic greatly differs from the traditional definition. In no way, shape or form did he imply that nobody should be born. He was pointing out the fallacy of a baseless argument. THINK before you speak, jeeze.

Actually Mathem, I posted that sarcastically to point out KK's CONVOLUTED LOGIC. Maybe I should clearly label comments as SARCASM, for people like you who are so slow on trhe uptake.

Their logic is sound, it's your inability to comprehend it – and thus the amazing strawman you managed to create with it – that is the issue.

Jeff, you seem very full of crap today. I am one of those "pro-lifers", as you call them, and I not only adopted 2 children, I was also a foster parent for almost 15 years and took care of 45 children. Many pro-lifers are just like me; they put their money where their mouth is and adopt as well as foster. Don't assume we are all like you; selfish and concerned only with ridiculing anyone with a differing opinion.

KK Whether wonderful people or 'crappy' individuals – Abortion is murder. 50+ Million Abortions cannot be excused by so called logic. Many doctors who carry out abortions KNOW that life begins at the moment of conception but they won't tell you that – So you can go on accepting murder without any of the guilt. Live with it!

Lady, you are sad and pathetic and you need to be beat upside the head until you regain some sense. You and every "friend" of your unborn baby are completely insane. Also, when your daughter is old enough to understand how crazy you are, she is not going to think it's cute that so many people loved her before she was even born. She's going to pretend she doesn't know you in hopes that she can avoid death by embarrassment .

I disregard your name calling of the Mom and Dad who already love their child so openly and genuinely on the grounds that you are obviously young and inexperienced [or just plain jealous]
However, as someone who has cared for other people's children for many years; some of them unloved and neglected, I can say that they would give their right arms to have that love at ANY time, especially to have concrete evidence of that love from conception on. Or can you see no further than your own unwanted and disrespectful opinion?

They're lovely people, and we find this quite entertaining that it seems to have become so big. I don't see why this should bother anyone too much; it's a cute feel-good story meant to entertain. Think of it as a post-modern scrapbook! The name was unexpected, but something we actually like; it gives us endless opportunity to make "Paint Your Wagon (They call the wind Mariah)" jokes. All the best to little Marriah Greene!

Part of the issue is that it is against the rules of the website. Things shouldn't be excepted just because they are 'cute' or 'feel-good'. I know plenty of people who had created pet pages that were promptly taken down by Facebook because they violated the exact same rule.

Being 'cute' is a poor excuse for being given special privileges, IMO.

    • Tiff

Rules are rules and idiots should learn to follow them. The parents who allow their seven-year-olds to make a page are just doing it because it's "cute" and "feel-goody" also but that doesn't stop child molesters from seeking them out, or Facebook from deleting their pages. This is completely idiotic. If you want a scrapbook then make a scrapbook, but to blatantly disregard rules for your own humor is narcissistic.

Since she's updating as said-baby, would she start updating from heaven if she happened to lose her? Is there Facebook in heaven now? No, I don't wish that upon her obviously and I hope she has a happy, healthy pregnancy and delivery, but you get my point about how STUPID it is.

They must be Republican "pro life" friends. You can tell because when the kid is born, you'll see the friends all go away and not care about the kid anymore (that's what pro-lifers do).

Please can we get the "Proverbial" Stick out of your bumms. This is a method of sharing and celebration.

First, it is NOT the fetus that has the facebook, it is the mother. The mother even says she plans on keeping it for when the baby gets older so she can look back. This is just another form/method/manner of scrapbooking. Digital Photos put in a Digital format.

Secondly, she never said she was the first. As well, I know she isn't the first its been done many times before on both Facebook and MySpace, however, this one is more known because of the amount of friends it has, what makes it special? Nothing, its just a situation of being in the right place at the right time.

Thirdly, I personally find stories like this uplifting. I am TIRED of reading the same old news of Death, Murder, Crashes, violence, coruption (do you get the trend I am trying to show here?) I welcome somethinge new and fresh to the scene.
