Nancy Garrido gets 36 years to life in Jaycee Dugard kidnapping

[Updated at 1:15 p.m.] Nancy Garrido was sentenced to 36 years to life in prison for her role in the kidnapping and sexual assault of Jaycee Dugard, Garrido's attorney said Thursday.

She and her husband, Phillip Garrido, held Dugard captive from the time the girl was 11 until she was 29.

Phillip Garrido also is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday in an El Dorado County, California, court.

The married couple pleaded guilty in late April in El Dorado Superior Court to the kidnapping and sexual assault of Dugard, whom they held captive from age 11 until she was 29.

They abducted Dugard when she was 11, and held her in a hidden compound on their home's grounds in Antioch, California.

Dugard was snatched from the street in front of her home in South Lake Tahoe, California, in 1991. Authorities found her in 2009.

Phillip Garrido, a registered sex offender on parole at the time of his arrest, is accused of fathering two daughters with Dugard during her captivity.

California law doesn't provide for a death penalty for the offenses committed by the Garridos, District Attorney Vern Pierson said in April.

Phillip Garrido, 60, pleaded guilty to one count of kidnapping and 13 counts of sexual assault, Pierson said. He faces a maximum possible sentence of 431 years to life in prison and he has waived his right to appeal, Pierson said.

Nancy Garrido, 55, pleaded guilty to one count of kidnapping, one count of rape by force, and to California's "one strike" rape law, Pierson said.

Her sentence is the maximum possible based upon the sentencing laws in 1991, Pierson said.

Nancy Garrido also has waived her right to appeal, prosecutors said. Her plea was offered contingent upon Phillip Garrido pleading guilty and waiving his right to appeal, prosecutors said.

I have always thought that she kept the little girl sedated in some way so she could go out and party. She never had a nanny so she had to do something especially after she got this new boyfriend and started running with this new crowd, who really seemed into partying. Also I just found out from my 20something year old grandson that “zannie” is a street name for zanax (spelling ?}. When she said Caylee was with Zannie maybe she was just knocked out with drugs.

I wondered about the moving into her parent’s house after they “left”…figured it’s another self-serving lie to make herself look good…like the “nanny” she paid $400 a week and her “job” and the rest of her lies. She is cunning and I really do not buy the defense bull at all…even if she was molested by her dad, and we will never know what the truth is on that, the fact remains that she’s NOT delusional in the sense of not being able to distinguish reality from fantasy. Her lies, while crude and transparent, are far too sophisticated. She’s just another sociopath, a narcissistic liar who operates from a base of rage, hate, spite and deceit. No doubt she would have liked to get rid of her mother especially. And her father, and anyone who got in her way. Including her child. Her parents doted on Caylee which probably caused a huge narcissistic wound in Casey. And….if Caylee *had* accidentally drowned, Casey would have LOVED to play the grieving mother. LOVED the attention from the hospital, family, friends, etc. Caylee did not drown, her mother killed her

Anything other than the death penalty for these animals is letting them off easy. They should be lined up naked, shot in the head, and left as food for the buzzards

If the child is finished posting. I think a life sentence would have been better than only 36 years. This was such a serious crime.
