Elephant kills man in India

A wild elephant trampled a man to death in Mysore, India, Wednesday, creating panic in the city.

Four elephants bore through the city around 6 a.m., straying from the town of Tirumakudalu Narsipura, about 35 kilometers (21 miles) from Mysore, according to The Times of India. One elephant was seen trampling to death a 55-year-old security guard at a bank ATM. The elephant also attacked a cow in the market and a moving bus in the street.

“The forest guards and officials from the Mysore zoo were alerted,” State Higher Education Minister S.A. Ramdas told the Times. “They rushed to the spot to control the jumbos by tranquilizing them.”

Two of the more destructive elephants were tranquilized, the Times reported, citing local officials. One barged into a women’s college compound and roamed the grounds while the other wreaked havoc in a residential area.

As a precaution, schools and colleges were closed for the day and extra police deployed.

Elephant experts should give a reason why these elephants went on the war path.

Better for man to be trampled by elephant than for child to be eaten by monkey.

We know that occasionally elephants behave this way and kill people. I wouldn't want to fight anything that big without a really good gun.
This happened in India, not here.
As for what's important news here, IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID!

These elephants rampaged because they couldn't find jobs?

Elephants don't just go around killing people like we do. They have the ability to to recognize the facial features of others and have a HUGE memory capacity. (bs u say? even domestic sheep memorize the faces of others. hundreds and hundreds of faces) These victims in India could have been people who were mean to elephants, or got accidentally trampled by a confused elephant. (when a baby elephant is orphaned by a poacher, oftentimes he grows up to be a juvinile delinquent, even attacking and killing the friendly rhino. The eldest female of the herd then tramples the delinquent youth to death. So if they trample their own when they get out of line, best to stay in line when dealing with animals that are smarter than you are in some instances.)

Like that tiger that jumped his mote and attacked those kids who had been pestering him. He wasn't a "maneater"! He remembered the faces of those brats and tracked them down! He wasn't seeking food. He was seeking justice in the only way he knows: death penalty.

I remember that. It was a female tiger IIRC. I would have liked to have been there to see the look on the head punks face as that enraged tiger successfully jumped her moat.

Wow...they actually tranquilized it and are going to return it to the wild? I'm impressed, if elephants were on a rampage in the US they'd be shot dead in about 2 minutes.

That poor cow is like a modern-day Iraqi citizen who just happened to be there when sh/t hit the fan.
