Saudi king: Women, not just men, can sell lingerie

For years in Saudi Arabia, women were not legally allowed to work in lingerie shops. This caused uncomfortable, and even hostile, moments between female customers and clerks.

But shopping for bras and other underwear may soon not be as stressful an experience for Saudi women. King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud has ordered government officials to start allowing women-only sales assistants in lingerie shops by the end of June. The move is part of a larger effort to fight unemployment in the kingdom, estimated to be around 11%, Time reports. The gesture is also part of an overall attempt to give women more jobs in the kingdom.

Listen to PRI's "The World" speak with a Saudi investment analyst about how it felt to have to buy intimate apparel from men.

It is just one more piece of evidence that this entire region is a bunch of barbaric idiots. Living in the third century, at best. They don't allow women to drive. Women are stoned to death. Have acid thrown in their faces if they refuse a proposal OR if they try to go to school. If you want to know what the U.S. will be like when it becomes a Muslim country, just look at the Muslim countries today and see how they are. That's how it will be. Sharia law will reign. Women will be forced to stay in their homes (as sharia law says). Won't it be fun?

The current Saudi king keeps trying to push through allowing women to drive, but the council keeps shooting it down.
Next, they'll have intimate apparel like the Syrians do, stuff that makes Fredericks of Hollywood look tame.

  4. Tell it like it really is

The reason women weren't allowed to sell it lingerie the first place is because the men wanted to hog all of the best pieces for themselves.
