Coast Guard searches for 4 people from sailboat

The Coast Guard was searching Tuesday for four people who reportedly abandoned a 33-foot sailboat near Sandy Hook, New Jersey.

Coast Guard Sector New York received a distress call about 3:15 a.m. from the crew of the Courtney Lynn stating the vessel was taking on water.

Shortly before 4 a.m., the Courtney Lynn crew told the Coast Guard they were planning to abandon the boat and board an attached gray dinghy.

The Coast Guard said it sent rescue aircraft from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Atlantic City, New Jersey, and a rescue boat from its Sandy Hook station. Local and state crews also were responding, it said.

Communication with the sailboat was lost after the crew members - who lacked flares, and hand-held radio and an air horn - said they were abandoning ship, the Coast Guard reported.

  2. Casey Case

A forensic expert says heart-shaped stickers were found in Casey Anthony's bedroom but didn't testify whether the items were linked to similar outlines on duct tape on the body of the Florida woman's slain 2-year-old daughter.

Even so, the stickers shown to jurors at the 25-year-old's murder trial Tuesday over the objection of defense lawyers were powerful images just before the prosecution wraps up its case.

Crime scene investigator Alina Burroughs told jurors the stickers were found in a box and a scrapbook, along with a letter addressed to Caylee Anthony.

Another investigator previously testified she noticed the outline of a heart on one of three pieces of duct tape while examining it under ultra-violet lighting. There were no pictures taken of what she saw, though.

    God, casey, SHUT UP!

I hope they find them. I really hope they do.
It seems a little short-sighted not to have the necessary safety equipment on board...
I hope they have life jackets, at least...

Going more than a foot away from the dock without at least the required *minimum* safety gear is just begging for a Darwin Award.
This is so important that I'm going to say it again in simpler language: Skimping on safety gear is *stupid*!!!
