Report: Drug traffickers staging gladiatorlike fights with captives

Drug traffickers in Mexico have been abducting bus passengers and forcing them to fight each other like gladiators with the winners being ordered to become assassins, a drug trafficker tells the Houston Chronicle.

The fights, initiated by members of the Zetas cartel, are called "Who's going to be the next hitman?" said the trafficker, who agreed to talk to the Chronicle on condition of anonymity.

The gladiators use machetes, hammers and sticks. "They cut guys to pieces," the paper quotes the trafficker as saying.

The winners are sent by the Zetas on suicide missions to shoot up the territory of rivals, the trafficker told the Chronicle. The losers end up in mass graves.

The trafficker said he was not a witness to the fights but gang emembers told him about them.

Federal law enforcement officials told the Chronicle they did not know of any gladiator fights, but they said the trafficker's story was plausible given the escalating violence in Mexico.

Maximus would take care of the Zetas once and for all. Give him two swords and he would hack the lot to pieces. Too bad that can't happen. They should round this lot up and burn them. Columbia did it...why can't Mexico?

People of the United States of America,Mexico.and President Obama.
Well, every day when I read, hear or see the level of depravity out there in the world I say how much lower can mankind go,then the next day, sure as hell, mankind sinks lower. To the Mexican President,do not waste your time trying the arrest these drug gangs i.e. Zetas.just kill them.Have your Airforce bomb their fortresses and your SWAT Teams go in and kill everyone.President Obama. If this new revalation does not convince you and the Democratic Party to put the military on the border to protect American lives then .....What more does that say about you.

I don't think it can get lower than this. Immigrants from other countries coming up through mexico being abducted by the druggies and left to fight each other to the death? This is in parallel to the Roman times. I suggest pulling our troops out of pakistan/afghanistan/Iraq and let's help the mexican government fight these cartels by declaring an all out war against them. Now that would be something to fight for.

All of the $billions of dollars that the US has spent with Mexico against the war on drugs could have been used to build three fenses with Mexico already and have enough law enforcement down at the boarders to end this continuing flow of Illegal drugs and people ! This has just been handled sooo wrong over the years ! I just don't get it !

Maybe they are online gang e members so they can stay anonymous. Just like when you go on eHarmony and you're not sure if you talking to a 24-year old hot blond or a 55-year old man with hairy balls.

Also, I wonder if the gangsters have to be verified like twitter. Would you want to be a gang emember and have to worry about the other person being a legitimate emember?

When a people become lazy to the point where they will not only refuse to pick their own fruit but refuse to herd their own sheep, there is but one thing for Caesar to do: import slaves. It works much the same way with street drugs and pharmaceuticals.

This can't be good news for the Mexican Tourist industry. However it would make a great Hollywood movie. It would be like Kickboxer meets No Country for Old Men meets Slum Dog Millionaire.

Legalize drugs. End of problem. If you can't use them responsibly, join a support group, or die. Tax the hell out of them. Deficit problems: End of problem.

I just don't see how a fence will be good enough. I think we should annex Mexico, clean it up, and make it a state. I'm dead serious.

Mexican drug trafficers are vile animals, not even human beings....and they need to be fought hard and wiped off the face of the earth for their crimes.

Death to ALL gangs? What about friendly gangs such as:

      Kool & the Gang
      Our Gang

@ Monte even if everyone were to stop using drugs, the cartels would find something else to monopolize. Drugs aren't the problem, people are the problem.
