Israel denies fiscal pressure on Greece to block flotilla boats

The Israeli foreign ministry on Sunday rejected as "ludicrous" suggestions that Israel and the United States were using economic pressure to force fiscally strapped Greece into preventing boats from participating in an international flotilla to the Gaza Strip.

"Do these people have any proof whatsoever to such claims?" asked Israeli foreign ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor. "Their entire activity is aimed at demonizing the state of Israel. What are they saying, that we have used all the Jewish bankers in the world to cancel Greece's bonds? What kind of fantasy world are they living in?"

Organizers of one boat planning to join the flotilla, the U.S.-registered Audacity of Hope, released a statement Sunday asking the Greek government to explain why the leased vessel was being prevented from leaving a Greek port.

Sorry for the typos folks. The name of the American peace boat is US 'Audacity of Hope'.
All peace loving and thinking Americans should pray for those of our country men/women who would be on board.

And hopefully they're not trying to transport weapons as some ships were trying to do.

@saywhat: what are you talking about, I've heard many people speak out against Israel with out being censured, does the name Larry King ring a bell?

      @ Jay

No one including Larry King from the mainstream media would dare speak out against Israel or even remotely be caught sounding 'anti-semitic' ( whatever that means)on the pain of losing their job and hounded out of their careers.
The only journalist who had the spunk – Helen Thomas is no longer on the scene. All know what happened to her or the like of Rick Sanchez.

Israel would never dare do that or they will extend exposed. The debasement of humanity at their hands would then be bared.

What Israel needs to do is let them into Gaza and then revoke their visa's so they have to stay with the peace loving Palestinians for awhile. Oh that's right an Italian journalist already tried that and was murdered for being a westerner.

There was an exclusive (brilliant) report on the 50 Americans on board the US ship part of the Gaza flotilla. The ship is in Greece and the people interviewed had lots to say about Israel insisting to enforce its blockade on Gaza. Listen, especially to Ray McGovern, former Senior CIA analyst and passenger on the U.S. aid ship: “The Israelis have a right to interdict arms traffic. We are bearing letters,” says,. “How can these letters be considered a threat to security of Israel?” Great report. Available here: and on their website

    absolutely right.
The international community now needs to stand up to the Zionist regime in Israel. Enough of their high handedness & state terrorism.
Listen to peace loving courageous Jews around the world.

@saywhat: I haven't listened to Larry King much but I've heard him on several occasions speak against Israel and the zionist movement, don't know where in the world you've been these past few decades! Guess you also never heard of Jim Bohanan or Michael Moore either?

@Zebunnisa: If they're just bearing letters then what's so humanitarian about that, sounds fishy to me.

I was on the fence before but after that claim I'm inclined to believe they are trying to smuggle weapons into Gaza.

@saywhat: Saywhat? That statement made absolutely no sense at all. What does Israel taking away their passports and making them stay in Gaza for awhile have to do with anything you said in your response. Also if they were to do that, and the Palestinians do what they often do to outsiders, how would that make Israel look bad?

Try sailing a boat into Iran you would never be seen again. Try doing it in China. They would probably sell your body parts. You are invading another contries waters. Israel has a right to shoot to kill, and should if any one has anything that looks like a weapon or tries to resist . The protestors made a choice. What happens to them in Israeli waters is out of there hands.

If Americans & foreign journalists are allowed into the refugee camps & forced to live among them & they see how the 1.2 million refugees in their own land are leading their lives under an apartheid oppressive regime than the whole world would come to know.
Israel wouldn't be able to suppress that for long.
    @ Jay
As for Michael Moore, ever since his book 'Dude where is my country" came out AIPAC & Republican Jewish Coalition have been hounding him. Their propaganda has turned him into somebody who is to be ridiculed for his 'rants'. Jim Bohanan the self styled 'militant moderate' and 'voice of reason' plays both sides of the coin.
I have watched Larry King regularly and was a regular on his blog too. I do not recollect Larry coming out against Israel. Even In the last interview that he conducted with the Israeli & Palestinian reps, he snubbed the Palestinian rep to the point of being rude. His blog was flooded with posts from indignant objective viewers.
    @ Andy
The boats are carrying humanitarian aid. Their mission is to let the world know the plight of Palestinians. The letters that they carry are the only weapons they are carrying.

Israel will simply take little or no action against the flotilla. No, they would not want to let hizballad and srion start a war on that pretext. They are wise and intelligent. Haha.

    Sure they are !
Murder comes easy to them & they do it laughing.
Our very own State dept warns that this could happen. But we are cool with it like in the past.
    A former Bush speech writer with a a Right Wing blog of his own – Joshua Trevinio posted this;

    Dear IDF (Israeli Defence Force)
If you murder Americans on the Peace Flotilla , Americans are cool with it and so am I.

@saywhat hizballad are seeking to attack Israel and by doing so divert the attention from the sirion protest to save resident Assat whom America's Lieberman named a 'thug' killing his own people just because they are sirions.
