Why you'll save more at the pump

Gas prices fell 11 cents over the past two weeks, part of a downward slide likely to continue in the coming weeks, the publisher of a new survey said Sunday.

The Lundberg Survey found the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $3.63. That's down 37 cents since prices peaked on May 6.

Crude oil prices have dropped in recent weeks, and "weak performance" by the U.S. economy has lowered demand, said publisher Trilby Lundberg.

Jobs going overseas = less $ for consumers to spend. Hi gas prices = less money for consumers to spend. Lagging economy = lower gas prices. Economy improves = higher gas prices. Repeat cycle. Duh.

I don't mind paying far too much for gas if there is enough money floating around for me to sell my work.

High prices and penalties are the only things that keep most of US in line. If gas were 1 dollar per gallon, most would drive more. If movies were all 1 dollar, most would see more movies. If the penalty for statutory raypeings were 1 dollar...get my drift? Other than a healthy fear of displeasing God that some of US have, high prices and penalties are the only things keeping US even halfway decent.

@Philip: What are you smoking? Keep us decent? How can you possibly equate relations with underage girls with gas price fixing? In your poorly constructed metaphor we the evil vile creatures trying to get to work, feed our families, and if we're lucky go on a vacation or buy new clothes are actually the underage girl, while the oil/gas companies are the 50 year old creeper trying to get in our pants without penalty. Please explain keep us in line? You're saying the top 1% elites are doing God's work by taking us to the cleaners? I suppose AIDS is a way of God keeping us in line, instead of a way for the devil to torment us? You're a funny character sometimes. The greedy mega-rich oil barons and their wall street henchmen are not lightning bolts from Zeus as much as they are tentacles of Satan.

Chrysler had an Intrepid that was a diesel/electric hybrid that was estimated to get 70mpg. That would have made it the most fuel efficient family sedan on the market, but they never went forward with production, because it would have cost an extra $7,000 dollars. If that car was available today you would get a $7000.00 tax rebate for buying it. Most cars I see are improving in gas efficiency which translates into less gas consumption. Sure there are a lot of SUV or large trucks on the roads, but most of them have been improving in gas mirage. The FFord F-150 gets 20-23 mpg which is far greater than the models 10 years ago. Common sense and numbers don't lie. Normal everyday people don't have any effect on how the cars are built, nor do they have any power to demand more oil production. Ethanol fuel is about $0.20 cents a gallon less than regular unleaded versus $1.50 less about 2 years ago. Even if you are one of the decent ones you are still taking a hit financially. I suspect inflation plays a part in some of the prices, but ethanol should still cost less if price fixing is not occurring.

He just told you Philip. In fact he's doing more alone than all of you can do by ganging up on people. Not bad.

@ North of Nowhere: pls stay where you are. your the Idiot. All he was saying is the boundaries are non existent unless a person has some fear of a consequence for their actions. He's sighting various examples. and your post has very little clarity to it. Please in the future refrain from comments were you must ramble to make what ever point your trying desperately to make.

In response to north of nowhere: ethanol is an alternative but not a good one ethanol is made from corn soy sugar etc. And may cost less but someone has to grow it somewhere brazil is high up in sugar farming and they have the largest rainforest on earth if the demand of ethanol made from sugar goes up brazi will tear down more jungles and I know many believe global warming etc is nonexistent but that doesn't mean tearing down trees is a good thing and on the other hand corn and soy ethanol would lead to most of our food in the US and places where it was grown to an alternative use so to cope with the larger demand farmers would simply get more land which means the destructiob of more trees so ethanol is a bad solution just to save .20 at the pump
