Gotta Watch: Judging Casey Anthony case

It's the capital murder case that's held our attention this summer. But has the prosecution proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Casey Anthony intentionally murdered her daughter? The jury is beginning their deliberations today, and now it's your chance to weigh in. You've gotta watch the most pivotal moments from the defense and prosecution and judge for yourself whether Casey Anthony is guilty or innocent.

Prosecuting Casey Anthony – The state of Florida contends Casey Anthony cared more about partying and having a fun life than being a mother. It's her motive for murder, according to prosecutors. They paint her as a liar trying to live the good life at the expense of her daughter.

Defending Casey Anthony – The defense brought molestation allegations against Casey Anthony's father and brother during the trial. It pointed to George Anthony as the real culprit behind the toddler's death and cover-up. Most importantly, Casey Anthony's defense team relied upon the fact that Caylee Anthony's cause of death is undetermined. It believes that's the real reason there's not enough evidence to convict the Florida mother of murder.

I feel that she is guilty on all charges and that something like 30 years to life would be an appropriate sentence. I hope she gets life.

I agree with you. Life in prison is fair. We know she killed Caylee and dumped her. George had nothing to do with it. Did she intend to kill her? I don't know. She's a young mom, and I'm not excusing her, but death penalty should be reserved for those who commit mass killings. The really evil ones.

  2. I'd still bang her, Atty at Law

Fact – not enough evidence to convict of 1st degree murder. All other charges will likely go through (manslaughter, felony neglect, etc.) Why? There is enough believable theory to obligate the psyche of the jury to convict of lesser charges. Often times, the jury will convict of lesser charges regardless of the reasonable doubt test when a murder 1 charge is thrown out AND a child's life has been lost. They want to throw the book at her, but just can't, so....We will see a 25 year sentence, and this broad will be walking the streets at age 45ish.

(Hopefully late enough in life that she can produce no more offspring.)

I think you are right, they don't have the evidence to convict her, hung jury? aquittal? You need to go by facts in this trial and even though we know she was somehow involved she will probably walk.

O and i wouldn't want to bang her, ewwwwwwwwwwwwww

Guilty – but I don't see a death sentence. Anyone who truly loved and cared for their child would have been frantically searching, rather than running around partying and getting a tattoo. Then accusing her dad and brother of abuse to excuse her lack of emotion, is absurd. Sadly no matter what the outcome, a little girl who should be preparing to attend kindergarten, lies in a grave.

The prosecution has only been able to present evidence related to the "Lieing to police" charges. So I would find her guilty of that. Not guilty of all other charges.

    This is so easy.
The State of Florida's Prosecutors violated the "KISS" principle; Keep It Simple Stupid.
The only case they had to present to the jury is this.
The last time a toddler – never reported missing and later discovered dead – is every seen alive is in YOUR care and custody.
Whom Would every parent, grandparent, or the pubic, rightfully infer to have committed an act of negligence, or criminal culpability that resulted in the death of the child?
    You! !

The prosecution must show EVIDENCE, and they did point that out. Did you even watch any of it?

And everything that you say and do, can be identified and defined as – attempts to "motivate, inject and direct" the subsequent investigation away from your criminal culpability -is later investigated and determined to be undermining to your candor.
The jurors' families can put hot dogs on the grill because they will be home before they burn.

i think caylee died from the chloroform...then casey went out...she came back home and saw the child sleeping still...then the next day she tries to wake up the kid and doesnt respond ....panic set in then she thinks that a story has to be made up so it doesnt look like she dosed the child....then the idea of kidnapping comes along ....so she tapes her mouth up wraps her up and puts her in the trunk...then she waited for the right time to go dump (i assume 3 days) before the smell gets to casey and she heads off to the swamp and buries caylee.... then she hopes after a month the body would be gone... then the lies and acting can begin... the prosecutors kept sayin the child was alive when the tape went on.... the only way to determine that are the skin framents on the sticky side of the tape and to check for saliva on the tape...but with the evidence so old and weathered it would be hard to get

Your story sounds very clear to what might have happened. I don't understand how Cindy dismissed the things that George was saying and stating that he was being negative. It's possible that George was seeing things going on with Casey that were legit.

I believe that she is indeed guilty but their are still holes in the story. Unfortuately the case was not proven beyond reasonable doubt. If Caylee did die in the pool how did chloraform get in the truck. No matter how disfunctional your family is that if your child goes missing you go out parting and not looking for her. All of the lies she told weren't told because she claimed she was molested they were told because she is a liar. If Caylee downed did she just pick her body and say oh she died and didn't try CPR nor did she find anyone that could help revive her child. I believe she killed Caylee just like the prosecution has stated. I'm not sure how this jury is going to go.

    I say guilty because:

    1) Casey stated (eventually) that her daughter dies of an accident which ties Casey to the scene of death

    2) Casey, by stating that her daughter's death was an accident places the decedent in Casey's presence at the time of death

    3) Casey, by stating her daughter's death was an accident negated all other statements made of ignorance and negated previous allibis

    4) Casey by stating her daughter's death was accident, placing her at the scene in the presence of the decendent at the time of death, negates the prosecution's need to prove a) Casey was present at the scene, b) the death took place in her presence, c) Casey did in fact know her daughter was dead, d) Casey did in fact attempt conceal said death; therefore evidence like finger prints, DNA, footprints, soil samples, fiber, blood, etc that would normally be used to tie a person to a death and a scene were not necessary. Ultimately it was Casey who slit her own throat by asserting a defense she denied in a video-taped visit with her parents while she was in jail.

And then there's the tape on Caylee's face...

Someone else said it and I'm just gonna quote it – "People do not hide an accident. They hide murders and make them look like accidents." This woman is as guilty as sin.

Guilty of involuntary manslaughter, not murder

. I don't think she killed Caylee on purpose, but she ran into the pool while Casey was sleeping and drowned. When Casey woke up, she panicked and hid her daughter's body because she knew she would be dead meat if she called 911 anyways.

She scoffed at this idea twice. Once to police and once to her mother–both are recorded. Plus, as the prosecution pointed out, no one takes an accident and makes it look like a murder.

I say NOT GUILTY. I pray for this so the liberal media can look like fools. Both Jane Velez Mitchell and Nancy Grace had this so called "Tot Mom" guilty long before the case went to trial. I would love to see both of them eat their words and feelings. NG and JVM are both vultures and are worse than the paparazzi.

I agree Chris!!!! My heart goes out to this young lady! This is sick and twisted... I can't believe people are so blinded to Georges games. I pray the Jury can see the truth and set her free. That she gets far away from her family and gets the much needed help that she deserves.

@ John Tempt- Me personally, I think it happened just the way Casey said it did. George Anthony found Caylee drowned in the pool, took her to Casey and said to her "This is your fault". Then I think he told her to help him hide Caylee so that neither of them would get charged with child neglect. Casey having been abused by this man, was scared of him and did what he said. Since none of this can be proven though, the verdict has to be not guilty.
