Gotta Watch: Judging Casey Anthony case

It's the capital murder case that's held our attention this summer. But has the prosecution proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Casey Anthony intentionally murdered her daughter? The jury is beginning their deliberations today, and now it's your chance to weigh in. You've gotta watch the most pivotal moments from the defense and prosecution and judge for yourself whether Casey Anthony is guilty or innocent.

Prosecuting Casey Anthony – The state of Florida contends Casey Anthony cared more about partying and having a fun life than being a mother. It's her motive for murder, according to prosecutors. They paint her as a liar trying to live the good life at the expense of her daughter.

Defending Casey Anthony – The defense brought molestation allegations against Casey Anthony's father and brother during the trial. It pointed to George Anthony as the real culprit behind the toddler's death and cover-up. Most importantly, Casey Anthony's defense team relied upon the fact that Caylee Anthony's cause of death is undetermined. It believes that's the real reason there's not enough evidence to convict the Florida mother of murder.

I think she's not telling the whole truth still. The whole business with her dad, George, and her brother is a smoke screen. Her mother is covering for her also. However, I also believe prosecutors don't know what really happened. THIS IS MY THEORY. It's possible that she went out to party with her child knocked out on chloroform in the trunk to avoid asking her mom to watch Caylee. She probably just forgot about her until it was too late.

everyone seems to be forgetting that sweet Caylee had a piece of duct tape over her mouth, one over her nose, then one over both of them to cement the seal and blocking off all airways..that's not accidental.

Very interesting... and a very clever theory.

No Willow, you seem to be forgetting that nothing whatsoever was proven with that duct tape. It's impossible to know where it originated and if it was ever put on skin. Just because it's in the vicinity does not mean anything. Remember that the tape must have originally been put on skin and then somehow miraculously stayed put onto the skeleton? After all the exposure to the elements? Not likely.

Hey Joe – that's what I said. Although I actually think chloroform had nothing to do with it. I think she left the child in the car figuring she'd be safe and when she got out of the club she found out otherwise. And then she panicked and put her in the trunk while she tried to figure out what to do. However, there's no more evidence of that than there is that the man on the moon did it. But my theory and I'm sticking to it!

They can't prove what you're saying about the duct tape over the mouth and nose. Maybe the duct tape was there to keep her quiet so nobody noticed her in the car. Seems extreme but this person's theory is new to me and believable since everything else about the case is so bizarre. I think the mother is the cause of the kid's death but I just don't have an opinion on whether or not the death was premeditated or if she even intended to kill the child. I'd convict her of all the other stuff and give her the maximum for each. I just don't see how you can legally convict her of murder.

I believe the actual death may have been an accident. I believe she used chloroform to knock out little Caylee, in the trunk, so she could party. Then came out to check her, discovered she was dead, and then applied the duct tape to make it look like a kidnapping and disposed of that poor little girl. Or maybe used duct tape to keep Caylee from crying and being heard in the trunk if she woke while Casey clubbed the night away, and Caylee suffocated. Either way...Casey is GUILTY, and I hope she rots.

As Jeff Ashton pointed out, even in that scenario, it would be felony murder, murder in the first degree.

There is no such thing as and accidental death...if a child gets hit by a car, where were her parents? Not watching he... if a child plays with his daddys gun n soots someone. That's not an accident, dad should have known better. Basically knw where ur kids r. Freedom comes when they r adults. I knw where my kids r, even the 3 year old. He couldn't be outta my site for 31 days....hmmm

Not guilty due to lack of evidence regarding Cause Of Death. How can one be guilty of murder, if murder is not proven? As sad as this case may be, we cannot convict someone on our emotions alone. Although we may all be convinced that Casey is a liar. Murderer, I'm not convinced. By the way, I hope none of you tell a lie to any-one anytime soon. You may just be deemed a murderer by people you don't know. Say what you will about the reaction of Casey; Remember though, none of us truly know how we would react in that situation, unless the shoes were on our feet!

What about the laundry bag found with her remains which came from the Anthony home? The rare brand of duct tape which we know came from the Anthony home? These are pieces of actual evidence linked to the victim and traced back to the Anthony home. To believe George placed her there is preposterous. She must be proven guilty!

The prosecution's rebuttal closing was truly excellent. Very convincing of her guilt. The Defense should have tried to plead insanity instead of the silly drowning theory. She will be convicted on all counts.

Yes, Casey's own words of "Surprise, Surprise" in the jailhouse video tapes in response to the drowning theory did an excellent job on its own to rebut that theory.

And u know what is the just absolutly disgusting to me.....the stupid look that kasey has had on her face the whole time....like everybody is just wasting her time!!! She is sickning!!!!!

That's because Scott Peterson had motive and opportunity and he definitely reacted incorrectly when he knew for an established fact that his wife was missing. His case is completely different from this one. Bad comparison.

I think that it is a shame she killed her daughter, if she was a black women she would have already been convicted. Instead because she is white she is assumed to be crazy but we already know that is not true.

Bringing the race card into this is a VERY bad idea. You might as well say the judge has favored the prosecuter's case simply because he's black and Anthony is white. Give your head a shake and stop talking this dumb nonsense.

For the love of God, CNN, PLEASE STOP TRYING THIS CASE IN THE PRESS! It matters not one whit what your ill-informed commentariat believe. It matters even less what Nancy Grace thinks. All that matters is what the twelve people in the room think. And since not of us are them, would you please shut up??
