Gotta Watch: Judging Casey Anthony case

It's the capital murder case that's held our attention this summer. But has the prosecution proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Casey Anthony intentionally murdered her daughter? The jury is beginning their deliberations today, and now it's your chance to weigh in. You've gotta watch the most pivotal moments from the defense and prosecution and judge for yourself whether Casey Anthony is guilty or innocent.

Prosecuting Casey Anthony – The state of Florida contends Casey Anthony cared more about partying and having a fun life than being a mother. It's her motive for murder, according to prosecutors. They paint her as a liar trying to live the good life at the expense of her daughter.

Defending Casey Anthony – The defense brought molestation allegations against Casey Anthony's father and brother during the trial. It pointed to George Anthony as the real culprit behind the toddler's death and cover-up. Most importantly, Casey Anthony's defense team relied upon the fact that Caylee Anthony's cause of death is undetermined. It believes that's the real reason there's not enough evidence to convict the Florida mother of murder.

Neither side has proven their case–we don't know if it was murder or not and that is the only way to get the death penalty. She IS guilty of being nuts and self-absorbed. There's enough evidence to give her 30 years for not doing her duty as a mother to care for her daughter's body after her death, but not enough for the death penalty or even life.

Guilty. But I have a nagging feeling that the father is somehow complicit in this. The desperate (and rather pitiful) attempt by "Tot Mom's" mother to take the blame for doing a computer search on chloroform was telling, I believe. I think she's been covering up and cleaning up for her husband and daughter for the dsughter's entire life.

How could a person as big a liar and dumb as this girl....out smart the state of FL, FBI, all the DNA testing, forensic experts, medical examiners and Police. I mean....where is the absolute PROOF, DNA, HOW, WHEN, etc...How did the state spend all this time and money and get one single piece of eveidence to DIRECTLY TIE her to the murder if it was a murder. I believe a terrible accident and just LIES to cover that went on and on until she could no more. Why did MOM lie, Dad lie? Why? This is certain...all that family is guilty for the death of that little girl. What a dam shame. She should be found guilty of something...especially lying to Police. But I'm not so sure the state PROVED B/Y a reasonable doubt she committed 1st degree murder.

  8. Awaiting Verdict

I watched a fair amount of the trial, closing arguments, etc. There are games afoot from every angle. While I am sure Mom was not oblivious to the fact that something horrible happened to her daughter, I am not convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that she murdered her child. The little girl and God knows who did what – it will all be sorted out during final judgement!

You make a very good point – no matter what the jury decides – at some point and time – there will be a final accounting for the actions of all involved........

Well, until she gets in front of God, we all have a civic duty to punish offenders of our laws. Casey is clearly guilty of murder, as indicated by the recoverable evidence and testimony as well as Casey's recorded and played back words and actions leading up to and following Caylee's death. Yes, God will punish her, but the state has the obligation to render justice for victims of crimes.

I think she is guilty now now in saying that I think Mr. Ashton was a bully against the defense witnesses he slam down evidence he raise his voice when they did not give him the answer he want it. Mr. Ashton was not professional at all he reminded me of a little baby. The faces he was making he did this the whole trail. The young kid who flip him the bird the judge told him that his actions could of turn into a mistrial. How come Mr Ashton was not told this by the judge ?. The coverage by HLN, the expert staff no wonder lawyers get a bad name they are all a joke. they are all looking for there own TV spot. HLN coverage after the trail following the defense and filming them eating lunch are you kidding me. Its got to stop the media is out of control. Again i thing she is guilty I just hope Mr. Ashton (cry baby) does not cost them.

The jurors have a very difficult decision to make. I hope that no matter what they decide that the media (specifically Nancy Grace and her buddy Jane) and the public respect their decision and not be critical as they have been in other cases. Jury bashing serves no purpose. My humble opinion is that we will never know the full story because as Casey Anthony is a liar – the apple does not fall far from the tree – it pervades the entire family.
    How sad for Caylee................

A reporter that was in the courtroom yesterday said his opinion was that, based on how the jury was acting during closing arguments, it seemed that they were 11-1 for guilty. I think it will take a few days at most.

My biggest question, if Casey was trying to "sedate" Caylee so she could go out and do her thing why not give Caylee Nyquil or something like that. Why risk mixing up chemicals and having to try and explain them when a bottle of Nyquil would put her to sleep with less risk then some chemicals. I also believe she was experimenting on the Anthony family dogs as well, that's why they where getting sick

If it's true the Father was involved in the alleged cover up he might be waiting until the verdict is read before confessing.

@Paul.... Seriously, dude, you watch wayyyyyyyy too many crime show on TV. Either that, or you are very naive and will, unfortunately for all of us, end up on a jury of a high-profile case like this one. This is why the legal system is such a mess. The OJ case is the classic example, but this Casey case will also be remembered for what a farce it was. People who end up on a jury are usually not well versed about legal terms and react solely on emotions. The legal system will once again fail if Casey Anthony is not found GUILTY.
