Gotta Watch: Judging Casey Anthony case

It's the capital murder case that's held our attention this summer. But has the prosecution proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Casey Anthony intentionally murdered her daughter? The jury is beginning their deliberations today, and now it's your chance to weigh in. You've gotta watch the most pivotal moments from the defense and prosecution and judge for yourself whether Casey Anthony is guilty or innocent.

Prosecuting Casey Anthony – The state of Florida contends Casey Anthony cared more about partying and having a fun life than being a mother. It's her motive for murder, according to prosecutors. They paint her as a liar trying to live the good life at the expense of her daughter.

Defending Casey Anthony – The defense brought molestation allegations against Casey Anthony's father and brother during the trial. It pointed to George Anthony as the real culprit behind the toddler's death and cover-up. Most importantly, Casey Anthony's defense team relied upon the fact that Caylee Anthony's cause of death is undetermined. It believes that's the real reason there's not enough evidence to convict the Florida mother of murder.

State of Florida did not prove anything other than Casey lied to law enforcement. On all other counts, the jury must come back with the verdict of NOT GUILTY.

There is also no proof she drowned. Neither side has evidence on how this baby died. I agree with the states theory.

Actually, I think her plan was to kill the child the way the prosecution laid out–with chloroform and duct tape–then fake the drowning. That's why the sniffer dogs hit on the ground in the back yard, and why the pool ladder was up–Casey put it up. Once she looked in the bags she realized it was too late–even a day wrapped in plastic in a trunk in Orlando in summer would have decomposed the body beyond what a freshly-drowned victim would look like. So she thinks maybe I'll bury her, borrows the shovel, realizes that will take a long time and it's hard 1) to do and 2) to disguise. So she took the body to the woods and off to the tattoo parlor.

Does a QUICK decision on the verdict usually end up being guilty or not-guilty or is it totally unpredictable? I'm hoping for a fast, guilty verdict. Feel so awful for her family, diysfunctional or not.

I still don't know if Casey killed her daughter purposefully or not. She clearly showed a serious lack of judgment by her actions following her daughter's death, and whether she is found guilty of murder in the first degree or not, her life has clearly been ruined and she will be paying for her actions until the end of her life.

Manslaughter, Giving False Statements. That's all the prosecution has.
There's no evidence that ties her directly to the crime. The evidence that is available is unreliable or may not be significant (chloroform levels in the car are not adequately explained by the data). And if google searches can be used against defendents, none of us are safe.
Of course, that won't stop jurors from doing what they want. I would have preferred that Casey Anthony was tried for the act of murder, not for the act of being an immature and impulsive young adult. What TV commentators have done is reprehensible by enforcing societal norms of conduct for females. I resent it. Since no one knows how, when or why Caylee Anthony lost her life, it is impossible for any of us to know whether Casey Anthony's behavior came before or after that death or whether it was connected in any way.
That's not to say that she's not guilty of something. It's just difficult to say what. The best way to make sure she gets some punishment is to find her guilty of manslaughter and false statements. The rest is speculation and not proven.

I believe that the prosecution did a good job with what they were given. However, I do not believe that with the evidence they have, they are able to fully convict Casey of murder because there is no hard evidence. The body had been too far decomposed to do any tests on that, there are no witnesses that say they saw Casey or Caylee right before her death, and they can't even pinpoint the exact time of her death. All they have is Caylee's remains found in a swap area, and Casey who alluded any valid ideas of what could have happened to her daughter. There are many other factors that Casey can be convicted of such as lying to the police, child abuse, etc but I don't think the jury is able to convict Casey as Guilty of 1st degree murder without more evidence.

I can't believe all these people don't think they have enough to throw her ass in jail forever. Little Caylee didn't freaken drown!!!!! If she drowned why was she found with duct tape. There's no need for duct tape if little Caylee was already dead. I hope there's justice for little Caylee!

No such thing as a fair jury/trial in this country any longer, want proof, just turn on HLN and bimbos Mitchell & Grace. This media coverage should be disallowed every night bimbo Grace tried this case in the media. Yet nobody does anything about it. Our judicial system is a disgrace and to think it once involved Nancy Grace. The jurors can't discuss the case until it goes to deliberation but yet our media can try the case every night on TV.

These women brought awareness of this case to us all and have pushed for "justice for Caylee". Good for them and I personally thank them! This is a case that screams that fairness would be a little girl soon turning 6. Who and what have you done to help correct or raise awareness of the death of an innocent child. These so called "bimbos" have worked there butts off to see this through and help us all have insight into what really happened. The state of FL has been a wonderful advocate for this child and the judge has been more than fair.

Idiots all of you. Who cares about the media coverage! How can anyone be impartial? She was partying less than three days after her child went missing. It is painfully obvious that she regulary used Chloroform to knock her child out so she could go party, and she finally got the dosage wrong and kiled her child. I am a big proponent of the death penalty, but for this particluar pile o' poop I want her to get a life sentence so she can slowly rot in jail, watching her looks fade away. to think that anyone could put their partying habits above their child's welfare is disgusting. The whole family is obviously disturbed but she is heads and tails above the rest. But no matter the verdict this will ne in appeals for the next 10-15 years. The prosecution just doesn't have enough evidence, and her mom obviously wants to save her from the Death Penalty or she wouldn't have lied so much on the stand.
