Gotta Watch: Judging Casey Anthony case

It's the capital murder case that's held our attention this summer. But has the prosecution proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Casey Anthony intentionally murdered her daughter? The jury is beginning their deliberations today, and now it's your chance to weigh in. You've gotta watch the most pivotal moments from the defense and prosecution and judge for yourself whether Casey Anthony is guilty or innocent.

Prosecuting Casey Anthony – The state of Florida contends Casey Anthony cared more about partying and having a fun life than being a mother. It's her motive for murder, according to prosecutors. They paint her as a liar trying to live the good life at the expense of her daughter.

Defending Casey Anthony – The defense brought molestation allegations against Casey Anthony's father and brother during the trial. It pointed to George Anthony as the real culprit behind the toddler's death and cover-up. Most importantly, Casey Anthony's defense team relied upon the fact that Caylee Anthony's cause of death is undetermined. It believes that's the real reason there's not enough evidence to convict the Florida mother of murder.

Although some of the actions of Casey Anthony may point to a conscience of guilt, there still isn't any concrete evidence that points to Casey Anthony as the killer. Yes, she lied to investigators, yes, she went partying while her daughter was missing, but....there still isn't any evidence that points to her committing murder.

Exactly!...everyone seems to be convicting her based on emotion...science disagrees! There is substantial reasonable doubt...the only thing proven without doubt is that she lies

Let's hope the jury understands the overwelming evidence that was presented during this trial a little better than you do. She's clearly guilty of murder 1, and should pay for what she's done. For my amusement I'd love to hear your theory as to how the little girl died. Do you believe it was a drowning as theorized by the defense?

      David,
She went out and partied while her daughter was dead not missing. There is a big difference. There is only one type of person that can go out and party while knowing that her daughter is dead, that is a cold blooded murderer. Her actions and her actions alone are what are on trial. Her actions are that of someone who is guilty.

We have to recall the Lacey Peterson case...again, no one knows exactly how, when or where she died...but we all know Scott killed her because he wanted a different life with a new girlfriend. This is so similar. Casey was tired of the responsibility of motherhood, tired of having to live by her parents' expectations of how a mother should care for her child... so she killed her. We don't know exactly how, when or where...but we all know she did it. I hope this jury is as wise as the jury was for the Peterson case.

That may very well be true, but keep in mind that no verdict has yet been reached. Also keep in mind that there is no other plausible explantion for what happened to the kid. Also, what most people are failing to understand is that the defence dropping the "accidental death" bomb at the beginning of this trial indicates guilt in itself, but ultimately and unfortunately, will most likely result in a conviction of manslaughter. Thank goodness Baez was stupid enough to offer this as a defence, otherwise she could have gotten off scott-free.

This has been interesting TV . Jane Mitchel is so darn excited , Nancy is just about silly over a guilty verdict ! The sad truth is a small child died and received no respect in death , a young Mother is facing either death or life for a crime that HAS NOT BEEN proven , the grandparents have lied and covered – up facts . The winners are the media .

I hope the verdict is Not Guilty just so Nancy Grace will have one more thing to be outraged about! What a blowhard!

That "Justice for Caylee" sign that appeared on HLN all morning is NOT what unbiased journalism is about.

Premeditation is best shown by the Google search, "Neck Breaking". For those who think maybe Cloroform might have been used to just sedate Caylee, neck breatking is fatal. Casey was considering that. And the duct tape. You can only use duct tape one time. So if you are thinking Casey was using duct tape every time she sedated Caylee with cloraform so she could go partying. and she accidentally died.....think again. Imagine removing the tape when Casey came home from each party.! Caylee's face would have no skin left. Try putting duct tape on your skin and taking it off. Duct tape could only be used once......to never be removed. Premediitated again........Particularly when you add in the 31 days of lies.

I can't believe it's been almost 3 years since this news first broke. I have been following it from Day 1. I wanted to believe at some point Casey would break down (ala Susan Smith) and just come clean. I was hoping that some ounce of goodness would show its self–and that a Mother could not sit with such a burden of guilt. But I guess it truly does show she is, in fact a sociopath or psychopath who is truly evil to the core. It's obvious that she is the root of her daughter Caylee's demise–no question about it. Only she knows what truly happened. The lingering question is if it was premeditated or accidental? I guess will never know. Any thoughts people?

If it had been accidental, any sane person would have taken the plea bargain that was offered earlier on before the mega-trial started. The question you need to now ask is this: is CA really that selfish and ice-cold of a person? Or is she literally that insane? The prosecuters already had three qualified experts testisfy that she was deemed sane to stand trial, so I would go with the former guess.

GUILTY ON ALL CHARGES. Casey Anthony is a narcissistic, cold-blooded psycho-sociopath murderer of killing and concealing the death of her daughter. She deserves capital punishment by death.

Good golly, Lori. Wake up to the real world. Despite what you probably tell your daughter, and what you obviously believe, there ARE monsters out there. Thank God you weren't selected for this jury or a murderer would be walking free. Sad that you feel more sorry for murderer than the innocent little victim. People like you are blind to the facts. I have two 4-year old grandchildren and this case makes me sick. I don't want her to get the death penalty. I want her to party the rest of her life behind bars.

I lie sometimes, but I don't go killing children. To make such a generalized comparison speaks volumes about your own state of mind, or lack thereof. I hate to say this, but I think your head is so far up your bottom that it's coming back out your mouth.

not guilty. I believe she had something to do with it..but the prosecution did not provide the smoking gun. they provided theory based on the evidence they had just like the defense did..but there was NO concrete evidence that tied Casey to the murder. She lied. She stole. She acted in a manner totally contrary to how a grieving mother should but look at her father..supposedly sleeping around while his grandaughter is missing. and if you look up George Anthony you will find that his first wife left him for lying and gambling. If that is your role model.... that's what you do. The prosecution said in closing arguement if you are guilty you lie ..well considering the WHOLE family lies then should the all be implicated? If that is part of their reasoning then, there is doubt.

So because a man may gamble and be unfaithful, he is also capable of throwing his granddaughter's body in the woods. If you put ANYONE under the scrutiny that this family has gone through for 3 years, you fill find that everyone lies about things and hides things in the closet. EVERYONE. Try using some common sense. The way Casey acted, I assume you're saying that's how you would act if your child died suddenly. For me, I would never get over it. But that's just me ... and 99% of all mothers in the world. You must be that 1%. Maybe you and Casey could become pen pals over the course of her life in jail.

The evidence in this case is very strong, but not irrefutable. All of these factors point to murder (at least second degree, if not premeditated) by Casey: (1) Caylee's body was in Casey's trunk, (2) Caylee had duct tape placed over her mouth and nose, which is explicable only on the State's hypothesis of suffocation, (3) Casey searched for chloroform and neck-breaking before the murder, (4) After Caylee died, Casey acted in a manner consistent with someone who had no remorse, (5) Casey had the motive to kill Caylee, (6) Casey repeatedly lied to investigators about what happened.

Again this evidence, what is the defense? In opening, Baez suggests that Caylee drowned accidentally in the pool; Casey and George panicked, and then tried to cover it up. Not a bad theory! Unfortunately, the defense never presented any evidence whatsoever to support it. (A lawyer's opening statement is not evidence.) Based on the evidence presented (both sides, after all, have discouraged speculation), there is no reasonable doubt in my mind that this was an intentional killing by Casey.
