Gotta Watch: Judging Casey Anthony case

It's the capital murder case that's held our attention this summer. But has the prosecution proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Casey Anthony intentionally murdered her daughter? The jury is beginning their deliberations today, and now it's your chance to weigh in. You've gotta watch the most pivotal moments from the defense and prosecution and judge for yourself whether Casey Anthony is guilty or innocent.

Prosecuting Casey Anthony – The state of Florida contends Casey Anthony cared more about partying and having a fun life than being a mother. It's her motive for murder, according to prosecutors. They paint her as a liar trying to live the good life at the expense of her daughter.

Defending Casey Anthony – The defense brought molestation allegations against Casey Anthony's father and brother during the trial. It pointed to George Anthony as the real culprit behind the toddler's death and cover-up. Most importantly, Casey Anthony's defense team relied upon the fact that Caylee Anthony's cause of death is undetermined. It believes that's the real reason there's not enough evidence to convict the Florida mother of murder.

Yes, I do believe the jurors have all made their decisions already. The hard part is agreeing to compromise and be unanimous, that will take some time. They should also retain some alternates, what if one of the jurors gets sick?

The state hasn't proven their case beyond a resonable doubt. There is no hard core evidence that connects her to this. We can all think she did this all day long but without evidence you can not legally convict her.

Murder 1 for Casey and I think Grandpa and Grandma should be reprimanded (do time) for NOT reporting Caylee missing, for such a long time, something is fishy there. And they BOTH Lied on the stand!

They didn't realize she was missing..they believed she was with her mother all that time....who reports a child missing when you believe they're with their parent? They also couldn't physically find Casey..when they finally did they called 911 immediately.

The slang word "gotta" used both in the headline and in the lead paragraph of the article...come on CNN, what is this, amateur hour?

I doubt this was meant to be murder, she probably searched chloroform because its known to knock people out, and she wanted caylee to be asleep when she went out at night, unfortunately caylee never woke up

Caylee died with duct tape around her head and mouth. The tape was actually in the childs hair which meant that she never meant for that tape to ever come off.

the duct tape was part of the packaging as she tried to cover it up, along with the laundry bag

Is this post a joke? That's got to be one of the dumbest things I've heard. You don't use chloroform to put a child to sleep

You may be right we will never know, but the reason they did not offer that as a defense is because it would fall under the statute as aggravated child abuse and since the child died it would still be a Murder 1 death penalty conviction just the same as if she beat the child to death with her own hands.

I have yet to hear of any proof, just a lot of conjecture. We know that Casey is a liar, but not much else.

There was neglect...in so many ways. Casey is a sociopath.....She will never feel guilt...she will never be sorry....It's doubtful she will be charged with first degree murder. This is all so sad BUT I think there has been way too much made out of this case. Rest in peace dear little Caylee....Now it's time to think about so many other little children who have met the same awful fate.

Casey planned and premeditated her child's murder. Casey lied to everyone including the police, the FBI, her family and friends. Then she threw her family into the swamp, just as she did her own innocent child. She's guilty of first degree premeditated murder. (Not hot Matt. You're dumb!)

The hatred on this message board makes me sick. The death penalty violates the 8th Ammendment. Not to mention the state should not have the right to take life. America is one of the only civilized countries that still executes people. As for Casey, I think involutary MS is about right,

I'm happy to see that you can make judgments for the entire country. Killing a 2 1/2 year old child is immoral too. Lying when your lips move is immoral too. Fortunately you're here to make all the decisions. Thank you.

Murder 1, without doubt. I agree premeditated murder seems a little murky, since intent wasn't clear to me, but felony murder is a no brainer. For me, it comes down to the duct tape, which had no reason being on any part of the child, especially a dead one, and the defense theory. Covering up an accident by making it look like a murder? I've certainly heard of the opposite, but come on!

She is most definitely involved in the death of Caylee, this is clear, as evidenced by the many recordings of her.

However, based on the evidence that the prosecution put forth, the only thing that they have proven is motive. They do not have a smoking gun or any concrete evidence tying Casey Anthony to committing Murder 1 or 2: the when, the how, and by who(m) has not been established beyond a reasonable doubt.

I do believe that the prosecution provided sufficient evidence and testimony to prove gross negligence and find Casey guilty on all accounts of providing false evidence.

My gut may tell me that she did it, however the state did not prove it beyond a reasonable doubt and that is the standard to which the system is held.

Not a single piece of hard evidence, no witness, maybe a ) smothered b) drowned? Any maybe is reasonable doubt, even if she did do it, it would be a disservice to the rest of us to convict her on the case the prosecution presented. It puts the rest of us in danger if such a flimsy case is accepted.

She first said the babysitter had her. Then sat in jail for 3 years to then say it was an accident. Either way she was there she knows what happen. If you are telling the truth why change your story? Lie to your mom for 31 days saying you were both doing things and having fun as if she was still alive. I think the beginning when the parents called 911 and the jail house tapes pretty much tell the whole story. With the info the jury got I sure hope they can see that. I wouldn't want to be on that jury. What a horrible thing to have to figure out. How did this sweet baby die?

prosecution did not prove beyond a reasonable doubt for first degree murder. she's walkin. if they charged her with murder 2 they would have gotten a guilty verdict in about 10 seconds. but then again murder 2 doesn't get all this media coverage...
