Gotta Watch: Judging Casey Anthony case

It's the capital murder case that's held our attention this summer. But has the prosecution proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Casey Anthony intentionally murdered her daughter? The jury is beginning their deliberations today, and now it's your chance to weigh in. You've gotta watch the most pivotal moments from the defense and prosecution and judge for yourself whether Casey Anthony is guilty or innocent.

Prosecuting Casey Anthony – The state of Florida contends Casey Anthony cared more about partying and having a fun life than being a mother. It's her motive for murder, according to prosecutors. They paint her as a liar trying to live the good life at the expense of her daughter.

Defending Casey Anthony – The defense brought molestation allegations against Casey Anthony's father and brother during the trial. It pointed to George Anthony as the real culprit behind the toddler's death and cover-up. Most importantly, Casey Anthony's defense team relied upon the fact that Caylee Anthony's cause of death is undetermined. It believes that's the real reason there's not enough evidence to convict the Florida mother of murder.

Casey will not get the death penalty but she will be guilty. I'm afraid that she will only get 30 years or so. All of us know that she is guilty but nobody can prove it; that will save her. BUT, somebody must have helped her; she didn't do this alone. Where is that person? Who will that be? Justice for Caylee. A real mother don't party when her daughter is nowhere to be found; that proves her guilt.

I believed she was totally guilty until all the evidence was presented. I now have reasonable doubt.

Casey( in my opinion) is guilty of felony murder. The words that strongly play a role in this case is 31 DAYS. First, she doesn't say anything about her daughter's whereabouts for 31 DAYS. Next, she parties like a wannbe rock star for 31 DAYS. She mooched off people for money, drinks, and more importantly, ATTENTION, for 31 DAYS. She constantly lied about this and other situations for 31 DAYS! Why...because Caylee was secondary in her so-called life.

INNOCENT. Casey would never hurt her child. Some one else did it. Maybe her father.

GUILTY!!! Casey could have given her daughter to her parents for adoption, or to some other loving family and lived her live the way she wanted. I am a grandma and I can not imagine anyone in my family doing this to my grandchild. The only thing her family is guilty of is loving and spoiling her and never holding her responsible for her actions. Now it's too late; a little girl is dead. Who could've imagine that; I'm sure the Anthony's didn't. What a tragedy.

There is no evidence that says it was her and her alone. Not one bit of muck on the shoes, not one fingerprint on anything and no proof that it was Casey alone who did it. Its people like you that are the reason we are 17th in the world in education.

My observations yielded the following conclusions: I think Casey had a hard time putting Caylee to sleep at night. Casey received bad information about Chloroform and its fabled use as a sedative and she consequently administered it to her child several times over the course of two months. I believe one morning she found that Caylee was not breathing and she panicked. She turned to her father, who is a former police detective, and she told him what happened. Her father knew that Chloroform would be found in the toxicology analysis and that Casey's negligence would cause her to be convicted of a capital felony. Rather than lose both Casey and Caylee, he covered it up alone without Casey. Casey went out drinking with friends to keep herself from being isolated with her own guilt. George Anthony's guilt was too much for him to handle and he attempted to end his own life. I believe George Anthony told Casey to not report the child as missing for as long as possible. I believe his intent was to use decomposition to hide any trace of toxicology analysis. I do not believe that Casey's mother knew anything about what happened. She pushed to see Caylee, which caused the family to report Caylee as missing. The rest is history.

A bit far fetched, to put it mildly. Sounds as though you'll come up with any scenario, however unlikely, to show Casey isn't guilty.

Actually the reason I think there was no involuntary aspect is days before she was searching for terms on how to murder not subdue a difficult child.

Good theory, only "flaw" I found was that Caseys mother testified that she was the one that had looked up Chloroform on the family computer – had to be in on the know

Then how do you explain the duct tape? No more excuses for Casey. She looked up her own information and pre mediated her daughters murder.

Jim – Maybe because John told wife what happened and wife was only one who didn't have experience/knowledge of substance so she went to educate herself. Bottom line is who searched for neck breaking? Not her mom. Casey is guilty.

Also when you consider this bit with the other bits.. further implicates voluntary / pre-meditated acts.

Investigators also entered into the body of evidence a photo from the computer of Ricardo Morales, an ex-boyfriend of Casey Anthony, which depicts a joke in which a man is using a chloroform-soaked rag to drug a woman. Casey and Caylee Anthony had stayed with Morales on several occasions until June 9, 2008.

Good point Jim. The Google search happened about 3 months before the time of death. It is impossible to pinpoint who actually made the search, but I do believe that the mother was advised by Casey's defense attorneys to admit to making those searches. It would be helpful to use advanced pattern recognition algorithms on the search history to identify certain unique behaviors of the computer users. Compare this behavior to references of all possible suspects. For instance, the same algorithms are used on the Bible to determine authorship.

And John latent semantic analysis generally only works when performed on multiple text works from multiple authors, and why the Bible can be deconstructed in such a way.

Lamented, you may be misinformed. The Google search for Chloroform happened in March 2008. Evidence suggests Caylee died in early June 2008.

Yes Lamented, semantic recognition uses patterns to determine authorship. Anyone's actions can reveal a pattern. Search behavior is a very analytical exercise that differs from person to person. There would be huge behavioral differences between Casey's search behavior and her mother's. Casey grew up with computers and her mother did not. Differentiation here could be highly accurate.

No doubt about that anyway. You can see from that little smirk and the fanatical glean in her eye that Nancy Grace views this case as the opportunity of a lifetime. She’s this decade’s Geraldo Rivera, chasing after any lurid and sensational event to push her face in front of the camera. She couldn’t care less whether Casey Anthony is actually guilty.
