What's next for Casey Anthony?

Florida mother Casey Anthony was acquitted of all charges Tuesday in the death of daughter Caylee in 2008. But she still faces sentencing Thursday on four counts of lying to police regarding a missing person. What could be in store for her?

Each misdemeanor count carries a maximum sentence of one year in county jail, for which Judge Belvin Perry has the option of sentencing her consecutively or concurrently.

The defense plans to ask Perry that she be sentenced concurrently because the four counts occurred at the same time, defense lawyer Cheney Mason told In Session's Jean Casarez.

Moreover, Mason said, Anthony should receive credit for time served in jail since her arrest in 2008, which would mean she could walk free Thursday.

Where will she go when she leaves state custody? That remains to be seen, but definitely not her parents' home, Mason said.

Anthony can never again be tried for Caylee's death because of the double jeopardy clause of the U.S. Constitution, CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin said. Nor can prosecutors appeal her acquittal.

What about a civil suit? Anything's possible, but the court declared Anthony indigent in 2009, so she doesn't have much to go after.

As for her parents, George and Cindy Anthony said in a statement issued through their attorney Tuesday that they wished to "move forward privately" and asked the media to respect their privacy.

"While the family may never know what has happened to Caylee Marie Anthony, they now have closure for this chapter of their life. They will now begin the long process of rebuilding their lives."

This leaves me with a sick feeling about all three, Casey and her parents.
Still, the prosecution failed to prove its case.

I am appalled, disgusted, disturbed and very sad. This is an injustice for little Cayle. ONLY in America can someone get off on a murder that is so obvious and blatant thanks to stupid jurors who have little to no common sense.

That which we don't understand we often criticize as stupid. I would be interested in knowing why the jurors reached their verdict before passing any judgment on them. Getting angry at people and calling them names of little value.

This is what children's nightmares are made of. DNA , masking tape, plastic bag whatever. What kind of a person can live a normal and happy free life for over a month knowing that her child had "accidently" drowned in the family pool ?? What, she's never heard of the 911 system?? You know , the good looking firefighters that rush to your rescue and give first aide. If this very strange story is true then this jury has about the same amount of guilt to live with as does Casey Anthony. You don't need all of the physical evidence to know she was neglectful and careless in regards to her daughters life. Whether she killed her or whether the child died accidently in the pool. It was her duty, responsibility to give her every fighting chance, not to run and bury her in a ditch somewhere that I wouldn't even bury
my dog in. Shame on her mother and father, Casey is an irresponsible , careless woman that had no right to give birth to a child, currently her parents are enabling her . I say soon she will be pregnant again , poor, poor baby.

Although I do not agree with the verdict, it is obvious that there was not enough evidence to convict someone to death. Another reason why the United States of America IS the greatest Country in the World. I am proud to be an American.

Although Casey may be a free woman and she may be considered a celebrity, she has earned herself negative fame. Who wants to associate themselves with a person accused of murdering their own child? The only friends she is going to have are the money hungry blood suckers that are looking to capitalize off of her. Yeah she may get rich out of this experience but again where can she go to enjoy her new found wealth? The only people that she would be able to mingle with are the people at the Cheney Law Firm and the Baez Law Firm. This is reminiscient of the O.J. Simpson verdict, but the irony with O.J. is that "at the end of the day", he is sitting in jail and probably for the rest of his life for a whole other offense. Karma is a b*^ch and it will come around and bite you in the butt when you least expect it. RIP Caylee!!

I'm not going to go through all the reasons why I think she's guilty, but remember: not guilty does *not* equal innocent.

You are incorrect. Presumption is "innocent unti proven guilty". A not guilty verdict IS a verdict of innocence against the charges presented.

Yes, most of us think that Casey did it, but you have to PROVE it.
    "Common sense" is not proof.
