Lightning strikes tree near Caylee Anthony memorial site

Hours after Casey Anthony learned on Thursday that she will leave jail next week, lightning apparently struck a tree next to a makeshift memorial in honor of her slain daughter,  Caylee.

No one saw lightning strike the pine tree on Suburban Drive in Orange County, Florida, where teddy bears and flowers mark the spot where 2-year-old Caylee's remains were found on December 11, 2008.

But long, diagonal strips of exposed wood scarred the tall pine tree, WESH reported, and bits of bark lay scattered across the road.

"It could be a sign from the angels that they aren't happy with what's happened," a visitor to the site told the Orlando Sentinel newspaper. "The rain, the lightning, the storm - it's the heavens indicating they aren't happy."

There are more lightning strikes in Florida per square mile than in any other state, according to weather.com.

A Pinellas County jury acquitted Anthony, 24, of murder and manslaughter charges Tuesday in the death of her daughter. The same jury convicted her of four charges of obstruction of justice for lying to police during the search for Caylee.

Judge Belvin Perry sentenced Anthony to four years in jail - one year for each of her four convictions - but with credit for nearly three years already served and good behavior, her release date was set for Wednesday, July 13, a court spokeswoman said.

Who cares? This may be the single dumbest thing CNN has ever reported. And given their coverage of this story, that's saying a lot. Bad enough I have to be bombarded with the latest white girl murder you've taken an obsession with, but now i have to hear what the weather thinks of the verdict? CNN, the leader in mindless churchyard gossip.

I'm guessing CA may avoid the path of lightning once she gets out. Still, one can always hope.

Why don't you get a life. Now you probably would make the news as a complete idiot. BABY KILLERS are mostly set free. I hope and pray every morning and night that Casey the Baby Killer will rot in Hell.

You can not convict someone on emotion... Let me repeat that louder... YOU CAN NOT CONVICT SOMEONE ON EMOTION!! You have to have proof!! The prosecution failed, and bet on human emotions to sentence her to death. I believe Casey killed her daughter. Premeditated, or manslaughter, I don't know... All I know is, there was reasonable doubt, because of the prosecutions "experts" conflicting one another! The state of Florida failed... The grandparents failed.. Everyone failed this little girl. Bit what about all the other children that are killed every year? Hmm? Where's your outrage? Memorials? Do something for abused children still alive!

Ur right....we should just forget about it and move on...because of a technicallity. Guess what, I would have rather sent someone like her to jail VERSUS keeping them on the streets. She was certainly guilty of quite a bit...quite a bit that WAS proven. And it's just a sick reminder of WHY people do the sick things they do out there in this world...because if you're sneaky enough, if you lie uncontrollably, and if you have the right lawyer...you can get away with murder.

If we use the context of Caylee's story to consider the existence of a god, we would be led to the inevitable conclusion that he/she/it must be a sadistic coward

Casey you could go free here on earth due to the law, but God sees all things and you will surely answer for what you did to Caylee. There will be no hiding place for you then.
