Betty Ford dead at 93

Betty Ford, the widow of late President Gerald Ford and a co-founder of an eponymous addiction center in California, has died at the age of 93, according to the director of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.

Ford died Friday evening with family at her bedside, according to a family member.

No other details were immediately available.

    A great lady who deserved more media attention than she got a stupid woman who did nothing but get away with murder gets non stop coverage and this great lady gets a scroll at the bottom of the screen but we know what a great lady she was may God be with her family

    Mrs. Ford was incredible human being. She was loving, caring and selfless. After years of trying to control my husband alcoholism, My poor choices land me in the Betty Ford Clinic. Helpless, hopeless and no desire to live. Actually no right to live and undeserving of my 5 children. Has sanford haven't my husband and I met Betty FordFord on a family afternoon. Oh I have met her previously but that's another story. Missus ford took her personal time to visit with me and my husband, Having knowledge of who we were in our community and how difficult it would be for me to return. She shared stories of her escapades in the white house. We never laughed so hard. My husband entered into the family week at the betty ford clinic as a member of al-anon and left as a member of alcoholics anonymous. We are both 18 years sober today. In the past 18 years rehab place counts for men and women in residential treatment for drug and alcohol addiction. We have taken in 37 foster children, All children of alcholics for addicts. We have 8 children of our own. Our 37 foster child is about to become child number 9. God bless you Mrs. Ford for all you gave and for all you didn't even know you did. Thank you for giving me the courage to return to my home town with my head held high. Thank you for helping me have the courage to become the woman I am today. Thank you for helping my husband see the light and making a family again. May you rest in peace in the arms of the Lord with angels surrounding you. I'm sorry you will never know the profound effect you had in my life in the lives of so many people in a God forsaken place called Needles California.
