U.S. recognizes South Sudan
The United States recognizes South Sudan as a sovereign and independent state, U.S. President Barack Obama said Saturday.
"After so much struggle by the people of South Sudan, the United States of America welcomes the birth of a new nation," Obama said in a statement. "Today is a reminder that after the darkness of war, the light of a new dawn is possible. A proud flag flies over Juba and the map of the world has been redrawn."

Back when you folks were convinced that Iraq should be invaded as part of this ongoing "war on terror", Sudanese villagers were being gunned-down in the streets and fields by their own bush-backed government forces. Over a million fled from what the Sudan's UN rep. called "the worst human-rights violations in modern history" begging for asylum. Not one nation recognized them then, except for neighboring Chad, the poorest country of all. And they raypedz and robbed them too. But you got the guy Bush said was linked to 911(saddam) while all of this was going on! suckers
