Rodney King, whose infamous beating by police was caught on camera in 1991, was arrested Tuesday in a traffic stop in Moreno Valley, California, after police observed him committing "several traffic violations," Moreno Valley Police said in a statement.
A preliminary evaluation indicated King was possibly driving while impaired, the statement said. He was taken to the Moreno Valley Police Department for evaluation and booked into custody.
Amateur video captured King's beating after Los Angeles police officers stopped him for speeding March 3, 1991. Police beat King repeatedly, delivering 56 baton blows and six kicks - causing skull fractures, and brain and kidney damage.
Four officers were charged with assault with a deadly weapon and excessive use of force but were acquitted of state charges on April 29, 1992.
The three days of rioting that followed in Los Angeles and other U.S. cities left 55 people dead and 2,000 injured. There were 12,000 arrests and about $1 billion in property damage in Los Angeles.

I wish they beat me again. I need the money.
Rodney King! WOO-HOO!
And heeeeeere we go again.
*Sigh*
I lived in Orange county(Laguna Hills) when the riots went down. It was not funny, especially when the white trucker was pulled from his cab & beaten within a inch of his life, in retaliation! Not only because of the beating of Rodney King, but also the blatant disregard by letting the cops off! When OJ got off, black & hispanic Californians celebrated because it was the 1st time an obviously guilty person of color had beat the system, & it came just 2 years after the cops walked & the riots ensued. Sorry to hear Rodney King has not straightened up his act, seems he's in the news for DUI every 5 years or so, but it's probably a necessary reminder to never let this happen again! So here's the funny part! My sisters friend, Brandi Lee called a day into the riots & said "They're looting I.Magnins, lets go!" We didn't of course,(even if we wanted to), but it was funny!
You found it funny that people were looting I Magnin's?
Really?
Funny how blacks always loot and riot when given a chance. Watts, Rodney King, Hurricane Katrina, and the list goes on and on. Here's a wacked out thought, maybe if they'd just obey the law there wouldn't be a reason to riot.
That's a very good thought, james. And quite true.
