Source: FBI launches investigation into Murdoch's News Corp.

The FBI has launched an investigation into Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. amid allegations that employees or associates may have hacked into phone conversations and voicemail of September 11 survivors, victims and their families, a federal law enforcement source told CNN.

"We are aware of the allegations and are looking into them," said the source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the investigation.

"We'll be looking at anyone acting for or on behalf of News Corp., from the top down to janitors," to gather information and determine whether any laws may have been broken.

Because the investigation just began, it's too early to say when the first interviews will be conducted, the source said. New York Rep. Peter T. King, a Republican, earlier this week asked FBI Director Robert Mueller to investigate the possibility that journalists working for Murdoch may have tapped into the phones of 9/11 victims and relatives.

News Corp. said Thursday it had no comment on the FBI investigation or possible congressional hearings.

Good! I hope it costs him everything to deal with this mess. I will never forgive him for turning a publication I enjoyed for many years into a right wing rag. Namely, The WSJ.

Rupert Murdoch, has more money than God. Every FBI agent has a price. As well as our politicians, this will all blow over, with Murdoch getting slapped with a couple of million dollor fine. I read that he wipes his ass with $100.00 bills. He will just flush a couple million to whoever, and return to business as usual. Our politicians and FBI agents eagerly waiting for Murdoch to drop another deuce.

I don't think I've ever seen CNN keep a "breaking news" banner on their main page as long as this Murdoch being investigated has stayed up.

    Bias????

It is no secret that Obama and his administration all hate Fox – I would not be surprised if this was a put-up job – they want Fox off the air – more Marxist antics!

Really, because I've seen it plenty of times. This wasn't there when I checked CNN this morning or even earlier this afternoon, which means it's only been a few hours tops. I've seen that breaking news banner kept there for easily a day.

Yeah, its CNN and President Obama's fault that the people that own fox "news" where using shady tactics over seas to get news stories. Does any of your kind think about things before they say them? Get off President Obama's nuts.

This isn't limited to CNN or "pro Obama" News centres, pretty much every News outlet in Britain and America has this as their front story whether left wing or right wing, the only ones which don't of course are the one's owned by Rupert Murdoch. Get a grip, this has nothing to do with Obama.

I really hope everyone knows that Fox is not real news. Throw Rupert in prison and let him wipe his ass with that sandy cheap toilet paper like everyone else. Oh, and shut down that fake tv station.

It's interesting that you have go to CNN to find out what's really going on in the world. Can't find any coverage of this incredibly HUGE scandal over at your regular station? Don't you wonder what else you've missed over the years?

Payoffs into the police organizations in order to obtain private security information and phone numbers of the royal family, child abduction victims, murder victims, politicals, etc.

Allegations of compromising British national security and the security of the Royal Family.

Hacking into the phones of crime victims and deliberately destroying selective evidence in order to create stories that fit Murdoch & Co. ultra-rightwing extremist agenda.

And hacking into the phones of the victims of the fallen towers on 9/11 !! My god, is nothing sacred to Murdoch & Co.

Destroying over 1 million emails in an attempt to thwart authorities investigating its criminal activities.

These were crimes by Murdoch & Co. on an industrial scale !!

I don't trust Rupert Murdoch one inch. Man's got his fingers in to many pies and always seems to be looking out for himself and not the other person. He is run by power, money and greed.., no matter how he gets it. This scandal is getting bigger by the day or hour and I don't doubt they will find more strange business dealings, and how his News Organization and news media networks and outlets get their infromation to read or watch. He is not above broad and I am certain they will find communications laws have been broken via mail, phone, internet and bank records obtaining personal private information on people and their privacy, and international privacy laws. Not a very nice man and certainly, not a real journalist or nice businessman. When it comes to 'power, money and greed', and doesn't care who he hurts.., its Mr. Rupert Murdoch. Mike in Montana
