Leopard killed after mauling six in India

Officers shot and killed a leopard after it strayed into a village and attacked six people in West Bengal, India, according to media reports.

The leopard attacked a woman and two men, The Australian reported.

People in the densely populated slum village of Prakash Nagar climbed onto rooftops as forestry officers pursued the big cat and vice versa, Sky News reported. Several attempts to tranquilize it failed.

Things seemed to calm down after the leopard sought refuge in bushes, but it leaped out at three officers, Sky News reported. An officer finally wounded the animal, and it later died at a veterinary clinic.

One forestry officer was reported critically injured.

Is there some PETA party going on over here? If you think there's overpopulation, please do us all a favor and just eliminate yourself from the face of the Earth. More resources for us, thank you very much.

Everyone having multiple children and thus actively contributing to the problem of a growing human population crowding out animals' habitat should think again before critizing the killing of this animal. What exacty have you done to prevent things like this from happening? Personally, I recommend the use of condoms from now on. Oh no, you want yet another child? Oh, I see... Yes, children are lovely. I think so too. However, the love of children is not helpful in this case. You have to choose, your children or this animal. Oh, I see, so you now think it was OK that they shot it after all.

The Indian economy, US corruption, Sarah Palin, environmental disregard, Michelle Bachman – and to think it all started with one leopard. Just think what you could do with a whole flock of leopards, or is that a school of leopards? Anyway, we need more leopards! And attractive female politicians. Please, someone help me tie this together.

With over ONE BILLION people already and couples still having 24 children per family, no wonder the poor leopard wandered into this slum. India needs to stop having so many babies. I'd like to see an international law that says, "Two and you're through." NOBODY needs to have more than two children in this very overcrowded world of ours. Animals have just as much of a right to be here as humans – perhaps even more, as they are not the ones destroying our planet. Condoms and birth control, India they work!

The leopard is also free to multiply. Show another country where there is this kind of freedom without boundaries for man and beast!!!

The "west" pretty much wiped out most animals (and native humans) long ago.

you might think its cruel to kill a leopard, but imagine if we had leopards running around, and you just waiting for them to maul somebody. they tried to tranquilize it. it didnt work, they had no choice. they have a better understanding of animals than we do! they worship their animals, so dont even start

Seriously CNN. Please check your facts with an Indian website, rather than Murdoch's Sky. The leopard was let go safely in the jungle by the brave forest officers.
